It was in February 2021, when Dia Mirza had walked down the aisle and embarked on her 'happily ever after' journey with a Mumbai-based businessman, Vaibhav Rekhi. One-and-a-half months after her wedding, Dia had announced that she is expecting her first child with Vaibhav. With a throwback sunset picture from her Maldives vacation, Dia had flaunted her baby bump and to announce the good news, she had written, "Blessed to be... One with Mother Earth... One with the Life Force that is the beginning of everything... Of all stories. Lullabies. Songs. Of new saplings. And the blossoming of hope. Blessed to cradle this purest of all dreams in my womb. Since then, Dia Mirza has been delighting her fans with glimpses of her pregnancy journey and with her latest IG stories, she became an inspiration for the expecting women. Dia posted a time-lapse video on her IG stories, giving a glimpse of her TRX workout routine at home. The to-be mommy's workout was under the guidance of her trainer, Rasal and Dia added the song, Don't Stop Me Now to her video.
Coming back to Dia Mirza's pregnancy announcement, the actress was trolled by the netizens for getting married because of pregnancy. In an 'interesting question' by one of her followers, Dia had clarified the reason behind delaying her pregnancy announcement. When one of the Instagrammers had asked Dia, "She tried to break the stereotypes with woman priest, why couldn't she announce her pregnancy before the marriage?" she had replied, "Interesting question. Firstly, we didn't marry because we were having a baby together. We were already marrying as we wanted to spend our lives together. We discovered we were going to have a baby while we were planning our wedding. So this marriage is not the result of pregnancy. We didn't announce the pregnancy until we knew its safe (medical reasons). This is the happiest news of my life. I've waited for many many years for this to happen. No way I would hide it for any reason other than medical."

Addressing why she chose to answer this question on social media, Dia Mirza had given five reasons, which could be read as "Only answering this because: 1) Having a child is a beautiful gift of life 2) There must never be any shame attached to this beautiful journey 3) As women we must always exercise our choice 4) Whether we choose to be single and parent a child or be in a marriage it is after all our choice 5) As a society we must un stereotype our idea of what is right or wrong, instead of training ourselves to ask what is fair or unfair."
Soon after the wedding, Dia Mirza had resumed her professional commitments and more than a month after tying the knot, she had squeezed out some time for a much-needed vacation with her husband, Vaibhav Rekhi. Dia and Vaibhav had headed to the Maldives to spend some quality time together and the lovebirds were accompanied by his daughter, Samaira Rekhi. Dia shares a lovely bond with her step-daughter, Samaira and the pictures from their vacation were proofs of the same. Dia had captioned their 'special memories' as "We made some really special memories in the Maldives.
