Bollywood's Bhaijaan, Salman Khan celebrated his 59th birthday yesterday, December 27, 2024. The annual occasion has become a little extra special since 2019, as his little niece, Ayat was born on the same date of that year. Since then, Salman's sister and Ayat's mommy, Arpita Khan Sharma has hosted a joint party for the uncle-neice duo. And this year's celebration was attended by the superstar's doting family and some of his dearest friends. Several other celebs took to their social media account to wish Salman, and among them was his dear friend, Preity Zinta. The actress' adorable wish for Salman prompted a question from a curious fan, resulting in the most hilarious interaction.
Preity Zinta took to her X (formerly known as Twitter) handle on December 28, 2024, with the sweetest birthday wish for her dear friend and fellow actor, Salman Khan. The actress included in her tweet a few throwback pictures that took fans down memory lane. However, Preity herself quipped that they needed more pictures together, or she would have to keep using the 'same old ones.' Now, that's a situation every bestie duo out there would find relatable!
Included in the glimpses was a picture of the duo from the sets of Dabangg 3, featuring Preity and Salman in their cop costumes. Other photos showed Salman with his arm around Preity as they smiled and giggled. The actress' sweet birthday note for her frequent co-star read as:
"Happy Burrday @BeingSalmanKhan (birthday cake emoji). Just wanna say I love you the mostest (partying face emoji). Rest will tell you when I speak to you ….. and yes we need more photos otherwise I will keep posting the same old ones! Ting (two hearts emoji)."
Preity Zinta and Salman Khan were one of the most beloved on-screen pairings of the 2000s. Films like Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa, Jaan-E-Mann, and Heroes reign supreme in the hearts of fans to this day. However, being a much-loved filmy pairing comes with the inevitable speculations about the on-screen chemistry carrying into real life.
Well. Preity's mushy birthday wish prompted one fan to ask whether she and Salman had ever dated. This led to a hilariously cute interaction between the actress and the fan, with Preity confirming that they had not. She also gushed about Salman yet again, telling the fan that he was 'family' and her 'closest friend.' Preity further quipped that the superstar was also very close with her husband, Gene Goodenough, in case the fan was wondering. She then adorably apologised for being unable to resist pointing that out.

Preity also responded to a few comments asking her different questions, and screenshots of her responses were shared on Reddit. The netizens' reaction to the same were hilarious, with some even digging out Salman Khan's old tweets referencing Preity.
For the uninitiated, the rumours about Salman Khan and Preity Zinta's romantic involvement aren't new by any means. In fact, it was once believed that their affair was the reason behind Aishwarya Rai dumping the actor. In 2001, the Hindustan Times released a tape transcript that allegedly featured a conversation between Aishwarya and Salman. In it, the latter was heard hurling abuses at the former Miss World and admitting that he had had a physical relationship with Preity while filming Chori Chori Chupke Chupe. Forensics later determined that the tapes were doctored and false.
Preity was then in a steady relationship with businessman Ness Wadia. However, the tapes seemingly ended that relationship, with the two parting ways in an ugly breakup. Later, in an interview with The Times of India, Preity addressed the rumours about her and Salman's romantic involvement and said:
"Salman is a very good friend of mine. I have known him for a long time, and we have always been there for each other. But there has never been anything more than friendship between us."
