Priyadarshan And Lissy's Divorce: Mohanlal Gave This Advice To His Best Friend About Saving Marriage

Priyadarshan is hands-down one of the greatest directors in the history of Indian cinema. From Padma Shri, National Film Awards to Kerala State Awards, Filmfare Awards, and so many prestigious titles, Priyadarshan is among the most celebrated filmmakers of all time. Even today, people are madly in love with his iconic films, and every now and then, we see clips of his films being used in memes and IG reels. Thus, it's fair to say that Priyadarshan holds a special place in the hearts of every cinema fanatic across the country. 

Priyadarshan confirms Hera Pheri 3: Akshay Kumar calls it the 'best gift of my life'

For instance, on Priyadarshan's 67th birthday on January 30, 2025, Akshay Kumar wished the director with a heartfelt note, and in return, the filmmaker confirmed that he's finally ready to make Hera Pheri 3. Akshay immediately reacted to Priyadarshan's tweet, and while thanking him, he labelled the announcement as the 'Best gift of my life'. Like Akshay Kumar, the entire social media went crazy over the much-awaited official announcement.

Seeing all this buzz aroud the filmmaker's upcoming film, Bhoot Bangla, and now Hera Pheri, one thing is crystal clear that Priyadarshan will go down in history as one of the most loved directors of all time. However, while almost everyone is aware of his films and journey as a filmmaker, not many people are aware of his personal life, which is exactly the opposite of his successful career. For the uninitiated, Priyadarshan and Lissy got married on December 13, 1990. After their marriage, Lissy adopted the name Lakshmi and left acting to focus on their marriage and kids. 

After some years of marriage, it was in 1993 when Priyadarshan and Lissy welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Kalyani Priyadarshan. In the following years, the couple welcomed another child in 1995 and named him Siddharth. Everything in Priyadarshan and Lissy's marriage looked perfect from the outside, but it was at the beginning of 2014 that they reportedly filed for divorce. After a lot of allegations and accusations against each other, Lissy and Priyadarshan finalised their divorce on September 1, 2016. 

Priyadarshan's best friend, Mohanlal, gave him unique advice when the filmmaker and Lissy were contemplating divorce

Once, in an old interview with Vanitha, Priyadarshan opened up about his marriage with his ex-wife, Lissy. The filmmaker admitted that he and Lissy tried their best to save their marriage, but things didn't work. Priyadarshan also shared that his best friend and famous actor, Mohanlal, gave him important advice when he and Lissy were contemplating divorce.

Recalling the actor's beautiful advice, Priyadarshan shared that Mohanlal told him that when a couple wants to stay together or separate, those who oppose them become their enemies. Priyadarshan revealed:

"When two people decide to be together, those who oppose them become enemies. When two people decide to separate, those who oppose them become enemies."
