Priyamani Comments On Her Equation With Cousin, Vidya Balan, 'We Have Never Been On Talking Terms..'

In a recent conversation with CNN-News18, Priyamani opened up about her equation with her cousin, Vidya Balan. She shared that they had never been on talking terms. But it is Vidya’s father, P. R. Balan, with whom Priyamani has a very good connection. The Family Man fame mentioned that if Vidya’s dad couldn’t connect with her, he would call her dad, Vasudeva Mani Iyer and chat with him. For the unversed, the duo are second cousins, as their grandfathers were brothers. Priyamani was quoted as saying:

"We have never been on talking terms in that way, even though we are related. However, I speak more to her father. Balan uncle is in regular contact with me, and when he can’t get through to me, he calls my father and they chat."

In the same interview, Priyamani praised The Dirty Picture actress and called her a 'phenomenal actor'. She shared that there is always a mutual admiration between them. The Family Man actress expressed that she is eagerly waiting for Vidya to return to the big screen and added that she misses watching the latter’s powerful performances. In her words:

"Vidya Balan is a phenomenal actor; the mutual admiration is always there. I can’t wait for her to come back on screens. As an audience member, I really miss the powerful actor that she is."

When Vidya Balan revealed her equation with Priyamani

In a past interview with DNA, Vidya Balan revealed that Priyamani and she are distant cousins. She mentioned that they had met once at an award ceremony. She also mentioned that their families are not connected. Later, Vidya heaped praises on her cousin. She was quoted as saying:

"Yes, but can you believe we've met once in our lives. We are distant cousins. We met on a film award stage once because our families are not in touch. I'm given to believe that she's a wonderful actor, and she's doing really well for herself. More power to her."
