Priyamani On Hate She Received For Interfaith Marriage: 'People Texted Me Your Kids Are Terrorists'

Priyamani is one of the famous South Indian actresses. She rose to nationwide fame after her performance in Shah Rukh Khan's starrer — Jawan. While her professional life has been on the rise, her personal life hit the limelight for all the wrong reasons. She received massive hate after she announced her engagement with Mustafa Raj in 2016.

Priyamani talked about receiving hate from people for her interfaith marriage 

Recently, in an interview with the Filmfare, Priyamani talked about the hate she received for marrying a Muslim. She revealed people would text her talking about Jihad and how her kids would be terrorists. In an interview with Filmfare, Priyamani talked about how people were texting her with mean comments and calling her kids terrorists.

Priyamani called it disheartening and revealed how single inter-case couple gets target while the many top actors who marry outside their caste or religion never receive any hate. She was quoted as saying

"People were texting me, saying: 'Jihad, Muslim, your kids are going to be terrorists. It’s disheartening. Why target a single inter-caste couple? There are many top actors who have married outside their caste or religion. Not necessarily, they imbibed or adopted that religion. They just fell in love with someone irrespective of their religion. I don’t understand why there is so much hate around this."

Priyamani revealed how people trolled her for sharing a picture on Eid, but not Navratri

Priyamani further revealed that she got massively trolled for sharing a picture on the occasion of Eid, but not for Navratri. Priyamani shared that she no longer get affected by what the world thinks about her. She avoid giving attention to negativity. She said:

"People questioned why I didn’t post for Navratri. I didn’t know how to respond, but I’m no longer affected by it. I choose not to pay attention to such negativity."

When Priyamani talked about the claims of her marriage with Mustafa being tagged as 'invalid'

For those who don't know, Mustafa's ex-wife, Ayesha once called the duo's wedding to be 'invalid'. According to Ayesha, Mustafa didn't divorce her which is why his wedding with Priyamani was not valid. In an interview with ETimes, Mustafa revealed that he had been paying for his and Ayesha's kids, and the latter had been making these allegations only to extort more money.
