Priyanka Chopra Jonas, aka our very own Desi Girl, never fails to hit the headlines, courtesy of her personal and professional lives. The diva, who got married to American singing sensation, Nick Jonas, is currently basking in the glory of her motherhood journey. It was in January 2022, when the adorable couple welcomed their first baby, a daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, via surrogacy.
On January 19, 2023, Priyanka Chopra took to her IG handle and shared an adorable picture with her daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas. For the unversed, the picture was from the mommy-daughter duo's first magazine shoot together. In the picture, Priyanka was dressed in a red-hued body-hugging dress, which featured full sleeves and a turtle neck. Lying on the floor, the actress completed her look with a unique necklace, dewy makeup and wavy tresses. On the other hand, her baby girl also twinned with her in a red-coloured frock, as she sat with her face away from the camera. Sharing the picture, Priyanka penned:
"Another one of our many firsts together… #MM. British Vogue, February 2023."

As soon as Priyanka Chopra shared the picture, many netizens weren't happy with it. Mentioning that they didn't see why Malti Marie was in the photo at all if Priyanka didn't want the world to see her face yet. While one user commented, "You have every right to keep her out of the public eye but why do this purposely and then hide her," another one penned, "That baby is just a prop". Meanwhile, a third user commented, "I'm not sure what's the point of having the baby in the picture if your not going to show the babies face. You have every right to keep her out of the public eye..but why do this purposely and then hide her? Just keep her out completely. No need to taunt us lol." Check out the comments below:
Priyanka and Nick’s daughter, Malti was born prematurely, and her condition was quite horrifying for the newbie parents. In an interview with British Vogue, Priyanka Chopra revealed how she and Nick would shuttle each day to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) to be with Malti and added that they were not sure if their baby girl would be able to make it through. Despite both their families being there for them, only the parents were allowed to visit the NICU because of the first omicron wave in the US.
Priyanka Chopra also talked about the painful experience of getting accused of her decision to opt for surrogacy. Talking about the brutal trolling she received, the actress mentioned that she had already prepared herself to deal with the trolls. However, she revealed that it was heartbreaking to deal with people slamming her for renting someone else's womb for having her daughter via surrogacy. But now, Priyanka wouldn't let anyone gossip about her daughter, Malti, and she's really protective about her.

Further in the interview, Priyanka Chopra revealed the real reason why she opted for surrogacy to bring her baby into this world. She mentioned that she had certain medical complications, which made it difficult for her to embrace motherhood. However, she added that she was proud of her decision to opt for surrogacy as her surrogate was very generous and kind for taking care of Malti for six months.
