Priyanka Chopra is undoubtedly one of the most prominent names in the entertainment industry. Be it Bollywood or Hollywood, the model-turned-actress has stunned everyone with her impeccable acting stints ever since she stepped into showbiz. Apart from being a phenomenal actress, Priyanka is also very vocal about certain relevant societal issues, including feminism, and people love her nuanced understanding and views. Amidst Nora Fatehi’s controversial remark about feminism, let’s have a look at what Priyanka had to say about the same topic.
The global star has, time and again, mentioned in public the simple definition of feminism, which many people tend to get wrong. During the Forbes Women’s Summit in 2018, Priyanka had shared her thoughts on the idea of feminism and said that, in her understanding, feminism meant that a woman gets the ability to choose for herself without any judgments. In her words:
“For me what feminism stands for is give me the ability to make my own decisions without judging me. Just the same kind of freedom men have had for such a long time. Women should sound like this, women should wear this, women at this point should get married, we are always told what we should do. We need to be able to decide what we should do whatever that is, so to me that freedom in feminism.”

A few days ago, Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi appeared on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, The Ranveer Show, and shared her opinion on feminism, among other things. The actress talked about how feminism has messed up society and brainwashed men. Moreover, she also revealed her belief in traditional gender roles, emphasising that women are born to be nurturers. She said:
“The idea of being inherently completely independent and not having to get married and have kids and not having the male and female dynamics at home where the man is the provider, a breadwinner, and the woman is the nurturer, I don’t believe in people who think that’s not true. I think women are nurturers, yes, they should go to work and have their own life and be independent but to a certain extent. They should also be ready to take on the role of being a mother, a wife and a nurturer.”
Further continuing her thoughts, Nora said that women should go to work but only to a certain extent. The actress added that while society today terms this an old-school way of thinking, in her opinion, it’s normal. Nora also shared that she also advocates for women’s rights, but when feminism becomes radical, then it turns dangerous for society. In her words:
“Just like a man should be ready to take the role of being a provider, a breadwinner and a father and a husband. We call it an old-school, traditional way of thinking. I call it the normal way of thinking. It’s just that feminism fucked it up a little bit. We are all equal in more sentimental things, but in societal things, we are not equal. Feminism inherently, on the base level, is great. I also advocate for women’s rights, I also want girls to go to school. However, when feminism becomes radical, it becomes dangerous for the society.”
