Parents are always our support system, from helping us make all the crucial decisions of our lives to being our honest critics, their words make a lot of difference to us. Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her mother, Madhu Chopra share an exactly similar relationship. From supporting her dream of becoming an actress to turning into a father figure after her daddy dearest, Ashok Chopra, had left for the heavenly abode, on June 10, 2013, Madhu Chopra has always been Priyanka’s strength.
Priyanka Chopra belonged to an Army background, where both her parents, Ashok and Madhu Chopra, had served as physicians. It was Priyanka’s mother, Madhu, who had asked her to be a part of the Femina Miss India contest in 2000. The White Tiger actress shared a very close bond with her father, and on her right hand, she even has a tattoo, 'Daddy's lil girl', which is in her late father’s handwriting.

On February 9, 2021, Priyanka Chopra had released a memoir, Unfinished, in which she had mentioned an incident from her childhood where she had made her mom, Madhu Chopra, so upset with her behaviour that she had decided to send her to boarding school. Sharing the incident, Priyanka had written in her book:
“One evening, my parents and I were watching television together in their bedroom. I was lying on my tummy and snacking on some chips, and Dad asked me to pass them. ‘No,’ I responded, without taking my eyes off the screen. Dad asked again, and I said, ‘No,’ this time more firmly. And then, as if ‘no’ wasn't bad enough, I added: 'Can't you see that I'm busy!' Which was a variation of what Mom used to say: Give me time. Can't you see that I'm busy? I'll get back to you. Mom looked at my father, then at me, and then at my father again. 'Mimi needs to learn discipline,' she said."
In an interview with the Hindusthan Times, Priyanka Chopra was asked about the same incident. She had confessed that after the birth of her brother, Siddharth Chopra, she used to get very jealous as he had taken over all the attention, and thus she did such behaviour while she was a kid. She had also mentioned that her father wasn’t much concerned about this, but her mother had panicked and had decided to send her to boarding school. She had said:
"Dad wasn't concerned, but for Mom it must have been the last straw after many months of enduring my tantrums and attention-seeking behavior."

Priyanka Chopra Jonas has always made sure to celebrate the birthday of ‘her backbone’ mother, Madhu Chopra. On June 16, 2019, PeeCee had shared a lovely mother-daughter selfie and had written:
"Best birthday girl ever. @madhumalati I love you. Thank you for being my rock.”
On the other hand, Madhu Chopra's son-in-law, Nick Jonas too had wished her on his social media handle by sharing an adorable Instagram story, atop which he had penned:
“Happy Birthday @madhumalati Love you!”
Priyanka Chopra’s mother, Madhu Chopra, has always been seen supporting her daughter in all her decisions. In an interview with After Hrs, post-Priyanka’s roka ceremony in August 2018, her mother, Madhu Chopra, had shared that she was glad that Priyanka had finally found the man of her dreams. She had said:
“Priyanka has always been ambitious about her career and I was just supporting her and wishing the best for her, as a mother. I used to pester her, but in the last two-three years, I had stopped. I had given up. Yeh sab cheez ka ek time hota hai, it’s all destiny. I told her that I want to meet Nick’s family.”
