Life feels like a blessing when you are surrounded by your loved ones. And it just takes one moment to change everything. However, the untimely demise of a parent leaves a void in your heart, and coping with the grief and their absence can be heart-wrenching. Something similar had happened to the global icon and actress, Priyanka Chopra when she had lost her dearest father, Dr Ashok Chopra on June 10, 2013, after a five-year battle with cancer.

Priyanka was born to Madhu Chopra and Ashok Chopra in a middle-class family. Her determination and hard work had made her win the crown of Miss World 2000 at the age of 18. However, the darkest phase of the actresss' life was when her father was diagnosed with cancer. Priyanka had visited temples, performed prayers and flew to several foreign countries for treatment, only to lose her father to an untimely demise.

Earlier in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, the actress had shared that her daddy, late Ashok Chopra was her loudest cheerleader. Recalling how he used to be the happiest person in the room over her smallest victories and achievements, she had shared:

"I miss most about him just how unabashedly proud of me he would be in the littlest things. Even if I am having dinner and my plate is clean, my dad would be excited. If I wore a dress that I liked, my dad would be excited. From the littlest thing to the biggest thing, he would be the loudest in the room. I miss the noise, the excitement he had, the joy and investment he had in my life and just how excited he used to be about everything about me."

"I do feel that he's been instrumental in me being where I am today. He's helped me find a sense of peace, which I never had when he was around. He always saw me as reckless, trying to get to the new place thing and he always wanted me to have a sense of peace. That's when I feel him around, when I feel peaceful."
