Priyanka Chopra, a multi-talented individual, has not only excelled in her acting career but has also made a mark as an entrepreneur. At the age of 41, she has successfully ventured into various businesses, including a film production company, Purple Pebble Pictures, a hair care brand, Anomaly, an Indian restaurant in New York, Sona, and a home decor brand, Sona Home. Her diverse investments also include the dating app, Bumble. Recently, her Indian restaurant in New York, Sona, announced its closure, after her departure from it in 2023.
In March 2021, Priyanka, along with Maneesh K. Goyal, opened Sona, an Indian restaurant in New York, amidst the challenging COVID-19 restrictions. The restaurant quickly became a popular spot, thanks to Priyanka's involvement. However, in August 2023, she decided to part ways, and it was announced that the restaurant would continue its operations despite her departure. But on June 19, 2024, it was revealed that Sona would be closing its doors on June 30, 2024, after three remarkable years. The official statement reads:

In 2023, Priyanka Chopra’s representative revealed that the actress decided to leave the restaurant to focus on her other aspirations. The statement disclosed that bringing Sona to life was one of the significant achievements in her life. However, the actress wanted to expand her ambitions, hence, she decided to step away from Sona. The statement, which was shared by People, can be read as:
“Priyanka has stepped away from her partnership at Sona. Bringing Sona to life will invariably be a proud and significant moment in her career. Priyanka has always endeavoured to bring Indian culture to the fore through storytelling, whether that’s via engaging content for film and TV or a beautifully plated dish that embodies the haute cuisine of India. Stepping away from Sona allows her to broaden these ambitions on a more global scale, and she's excited about the possibilities that await.”
The co-founder of Sona, Maneesh K. Goyal, who is also a friend of Priyanka, revealed to People that working with the actress was a dream come true. He disclosed that PeeCee wouldn’t be a creative partner anymore, but she would always be a part of the Sona family.

While Priyanka and Maneesh parted ways amicably, the media reported a feud between them. A Page Six report mentioned that the actress left the restaurant on bad terms. An insider revealed that in 2022, Priyanka's close friends, Maneesh and Anjula Acharia hosted a joint Diwali celebration at the Pierre Hotel. However, in 2023, Priyanka and Maneesh's friends had to choose between him and Anjula because the former wanted to throw a celebration at Mandarin Oriental, and the latter wanted to proceed with Pierre. Insiders claim that this decision had led to the South Asian community "picking sides."
