Priyanka's Uncle, Mannara Chopra's Dad, Raman Rai Handa Passes Away, She Gives Last Rites Update

The recent death of actress, Mannara Chopra’s father and Priyanka Chopra's uncle, Raman Rai Handa, has left the entire Chopra and Handa family in melancholy. For the unversed, Bollywood actresses, Priyanka Chopra, Parineeti Chopra and Meera Chopra are maternal cousins of Mannara. Raman is survived by his wife, Kamini Chopra and two daughters, Mannara Chopra and Mitali Chopra. It was Mannara who first shared the disheartening news on her Instagram. Mannara also shared the update about her dad's last rites.

Mannara Chopra shares the disheartening news of her dad’s demise

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Mannara Chopra shared the tragic news of her father’s death. For the unversed, Mannara’s dad, Raman, was a reputed advocate at Delhi High Court and was married to Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra’s paternal aunt, Kamini Chopra. Mannara also shared the update about his father’s last rites. According to a report by Money Control, Raman was not doing well for the past few days and passed away on June 16, 2025, due to age-related ailments. According to Mannara's IG Stories, Raman’s last rites will be performed on June 18, 2025, at 1 pm in Andheri West, Mumbai. Sharing the tragic news, Mannara shared a picture of her dad and wrote:

"Adv. Raman Rai Handa. 25/09/1953 - 16/06/2025. With profound grief and sorrow, we inform the sad demise of our loving father, who left us for his heavenly abode on 16/June/2025. He was the pillar of strength for our family."

When Mannara Chopra spoke about her Whatsapp group with cousins, Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra

Back in 2018, in an interview with Hindustan Times, Mannara Chopra once talked about her Whatsapp group with Priyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra, where they shared updates. She also mentioned that the name of the group is 'The Chopras', where 14 cousins of her are present. Mannara also shared how important it is for them to share pictures in the group to stay updated about each other’s whereabouts. In her words:

"We are extremely close-knit and keep in touch with each other all the time. We cousins, we are 14 of us, and we have this family cousins’ WhatsApp group called ‘The Chopras’. We know what’s happening in each other’s lives. It is mandatory for us to share pictures from wherever we are. Some of us cousins are constantly travelling, so, we also share pictures from our trips."

More about Mannara Chopra

Mannara is an Indian actress who primarily works in Telugu and Hindi films. Born on March 29, 1991, in Ambala Cantonment, Haryana, as 'Barbie Handa', she later changed her name to Mannara Chopra on the advice of Priyanka Chopra. Mannara also has a younger sister, Mitali Handa, a fashion stylist. Mannara completed her schooling at Summer Fields School, New Delhi and then completed her BBA degree. 

After completing her education, Mannara came to Mumbai to start her career in modelling and later shifted to appear in commercial ads. Before making her debut in films, she acted in 40 commercial ads and worked as a fashion designer and as an assistant dance choreographer. In 2014, she made her acting debut with the Tamil movie, Prema Geema Jantha Nai. She also appeared in some Hindi movies. Mannara also made her appearance in TV shows, including Bigg Boss 17, Dance Deewane 14, and Laughter Chefs – Unlimited Entertainment.
