R Madhavan is one of the most talented actors in the Hindi film fraternity at the moment. Lovingly known to his fans as 'Maddy', the actor has swooned zillions of audiences from the very first day of his debut. He has contributed magnanimously to not just Hindi, but also Tamil, Telugu and other regional language film industries. A multiple-time National Award winner, he has been remembered to date for some of his iconic movies like Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Tanu Weds Manu, 3 Idiots, Vikram Vedha, Rang De Basanti among countless others. While his professional achievements are not unknown to everyone, R Madhavan prefers to keep his personal life quite low-key.
In a recent interaction with Ranveer Allahabadia on his podcast, R Madhavan talked about his son, Vedaant Madhavan, who is a national-level, gold medallist swimmer. The young lad has already bagged several accolades both in he national and international levels, thereby making not just his parents, but also the country proud. Unlike his father, Vedaant has stayed miles away from the limelight of the showbiz world. Nevertheless, the doting father, R Madhavan talked about the constant attention his son receive, especially since he is a star-kid. Adding how it causes displeasure to both him and his wifey, R Madhavan explained:
“Sarita and I are not very pleased about it. We regret it because comparing a child to another child… see, memes are meant to be consumed, people do whatever it takes to make the memes consumable and at times, they don’t realise how much they hurt other people.”

Moving forth in the conversation, R Madhavan revealed that as a father, he does not want his son, Vedaant be compared with other star-kids, as he believes the identity of the latter being a celebrity’s son is not easy. The actor frankly added that although his son, Vedaant’s achievements is all but a result of his own hard work, but there are still many boys of his age who have greater success. In his words:
“So, when Vedaant gets compared to other kids in the industry, it is not something Sarita and I are like, nor do we endorse it, nor do we forward it, nor do we acknowledge it. Yes, I am not going to take away from what Vedaant has achieved. He has done what it takes to get the medals that he has and the national record that he has done. And being a celebrity’s child is not easy. He is going to get a lot more attention than most of his friends who have achieved a greater level of success being the same age as Vedaant.”
Back on August 2023, R Madhavan turned a proud dad as he shared some prestigious moments enjoyed by his son, Vedaant Madhavan at the Commonwealth Youth Games 2023, The young lad turned the flagbearer for his country during the opening ceremony itself, and his doting dad, Maddy couldn’t be any prouder.
