Raai Laxmi Talked About Her Affair With MS Dhoni, 'I Dread To Think That Someday My Kids...'

Lakshmi Rai, professionally credited as Raai Laxmi, is known for her work in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi films. It was in 2005 when Laxmi made her acting debut in the Tamil film, Karka Kasadara. The actress had a blockbuster debut in the Malayalam film industry in 2007 opposite Mohanlal in the film, Rock n’ Roll.

With films like Annan Thampi, 2 Harihar Nagar, Evidam Swargamanu, Christian Brothers, Kanchana, Kalpana and many more films, Lakshmi established her career in the regional cinema. Speculations about Laxmi and MS Dhoni began in 2008 when it was reported that the Indian cricketer was smitten by the South sensation. They were often spotted together attending IPL after parties, and he was even spotted at her birthday bash. The duo never hid their relationship and were publicly spotted multiple times.

After allegedly dating for some time, Laxmi and Dhoni parted ways. In 2014, Raai Laxmi, in an interview with Zee News, spoke about her relationship with Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Revealing the reason for their breakup, the actress shared:

“I’ve begun to believe that my relationship with Dhoni is like a stain or a scar which won’t go away for a long time. I am surprised that people still have the energy and patience left to talk about it even now. Every time TV channels dig into Dhoni’s past, they make it a point to bring up our relationship. I dread to think that someday my kids in the future will see it on TV and ask me about it!” 

Raai Laxmi revealed her breakup with MS Dhoni was mutual

Going further in the interview, Laxmi revealed that their break-up was mutual and ended on a good note. Adding that she is a very happy person and her work is her priority, the actress concluded:

“I knew him really well and don’t know if I can call it a relationship because it never worked out. We still have respect for each other. He has moved on and gotten married. That’s the end of the story. I am a very happy person right now and work is my priority."

Apart from MS Dhoni, Raai Laxmi was also rumoured to be dating former Indian cricketer, S. Sreesanth as they were spotted together multiple times. However, there was no official confirmation about it. Laxmi’s name was also associated with actors, Vikram Singh and Pawan Singh. On the other hand, just a year after his breakup with Laxmi, Dhoni met Sakshi, and the duo got married in 2010. In 2015, the couple was blessed with a baby girl, whom they named Ziva Singh Dhoni.
