Radhika Yadav Tried To Counsel Dad, Had Spent Rs. 2.5 Cr On Her Training, Now Wants To Be 'Hanged'

It was a few days ago when state-level tennis player, Radhika Yadav was shot dead by her own father. The act left the entire country shaken. However, while justice is yet to be served, Deepak's family has condemned the murder while sharing how Radhika has attempted to counsel her father and how the tragic deed's aftermath has affected Deepak.

Deepak Yadav has urged the police to write his statement in a way that he gets hanged

The murder of Radhika Yadav has come as a shock to the entire nation. Amid that, in a conversation with the Indian Express, Deepak's brother, Vijay, has shared how the former is repentant about what he did. The incident took place at around 10:30 am on July 10, 2025. Radhika was cooking when Deepak allegedly shot her. The sound of a gun firing was heard by Vijay, who ran upstairs only to find Radhika lying in a pool of her own blood. Vijay was quoted as saying:

"Whatever happened was wrong. In fact, when I was with him at the station, he told the police, 'Write my statement and the FIR in such a way that I get hanged’. He said he has committed kanya vadh (female slaughter).'"

Deepak was tired of being taunted by locals for living off his daughter, Radhika. While the police initially thought that Radhika's inter-caste love could be the reason behind the act, they have not found any proof of the same. Vijay has shared with the Indian Express that Deepak is upset over what he did and stated:

"Our family is not illiterate so that it would be against inter-caste marriage. If there were such an issue, it would be addressed at the village level. Fate is fate. He was hurting, sad, repentant and ashamed. He could not have shot her from the front, looking her in the eye."

Deepak's other brother, Rajesh, also shared how he had invested in Radhika's career all his life. He revealed that he was completely supportive of Radhika, and they had no idea how things took such a drastic turn. The FIR is lodged on Kuldeep's complaint after he noticed a .32 bore revolver, which was licensed in Deepak's name, in the drawing room. He and his son, Piyush, then rushed Radhika to a private hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.

Deepak allegedly could not stand his own daughter's success. Radhika was gradually climbing up the ranks internationally in the doubles category, was coaching at a private academy, and was individually teaching high-profile clients. During the interrogation, Deepak admitted to being disturbed by the taunts from the locals. He revealed that he had not slept for the past 15 days and became withdrawn, wandering restlessly in the house, and refused to speak even to his family members.

However, it was Deepak who had initially been Radhika's rock during her training and spent Rs. 2.5 crore on her tennis training. But when Radhika suffered an injury two years ago, she was kept from going pro in competitive training. Nonetheless, the talented player took to training aspirants by booking tennis courts at different places. She also aspired to become a social media influencer. Deepak got agitated by Radhika's presence, and she had to delete all her accounts a while ago.

Despite spending crores on Radhika's tennis, he later pressured her to stop giving training sessions because he had become extremely sensitive to the taunts by the people. According to reports, Deepak used to earn around Rs. 15 lakh per year from his broker business and wanted his daughter to shut down the academy as he was earning enough for the family. However, Radhika was committed to her dreams and urged her father to have faith in her. She told Deepak:

"You have spent Rs 2.5 crore on me. I will not let that money go to waste. I will train young players using my talent and experience in tennis."
