Meet Panchayat Actor, Raghubir Yadav, Lived In Tents, Accused Of An Affair With Sanjay Mishra's Wife

The popular OTT series Panchayat is all set with its fourth season, and the much-anticipated show will be premiered on June 24, 2025. The latest season will have a village election between 'Manju Devi' (Neena Gupta) and 'Kranti Devi' (Sunita Rajwar), and the audience is all set to witness the drama unfold.

The show features a stellar star cast featuring Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Sanvikaa, Chandan Roy, Durgesh Kumar, Ashok Pathak, Faisal Malik, Sunita Rajwar and Pankaj Jha. Among them is Raghubir Yadav, who stole the show as 'Brij Bhushan Dubey' ‘Pradhanji’ and plays the role of Manju Devi’s (Neena Gupta) husband.

Raghubir Yadav is one of the most prominent names in Indian cinema and is known for portraying complex characters with much ease. He has been a part of some of the most successful films like 1942: A Love Story, Aaja Nachle, Dilli 6, Peepli Live, Gandhi To Hitler, Maya Memsaab, Lagaan, Khamosi: The Musical, Piku and many others.

However, Raghubir’s life has never been a bed of roses as he struggled hard to make a name in the showbiz. Just like his phenomenal characters, Raghubir’s personal life has also garnered a lot of attention as he was rumoured to have an extramarital affair with Sanjay Mishra’s wife. Raghubir Yadav lived in tents and grazed buffaloes

An alumnus of the National School of Drama, Raghubir Yadav started his career in theatre. Not many people know this, but Raghubir wanted to be a musician and ran away from his home to become a musician. He lived a nomadic life and spent his early years living in tents. Not just this, he also grazed buffaloes and drove bullock carts. After his initial struggles, Raghubir got his big break with the television show, Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne in 1994.

Raghubir Yadav married Poornima Kharga, a Kathak dancer in 1988. However, the couple separated in 1995. However, what shocked everyone was Raghubir’s wife, Poornima Karga’s controversial claim about the actor’s extra-marital affair. She accused Raghubir of having an extra-marital affair with filmmaker and actress, Nandita Das. Poornima claimed that her marriage with Raghubir started going wrong within seven years when he fell in love with Nandita Das. The duo has a 30-year-old son too.

Raghubir Yadav was accused of having a live-in relationship with Sanjay Mishra’s wife

All hell broke when Raghubir Yadav’s wife, Poornima, made another shocking statement about the actor being in a live-in relationship with actor, Sanjay Mishra’s wife, Roshni Achreja. In an interview with SpotboyE, Raghubir’s estranged wife, Poornima revealed that when the actor shifted to Goregaon, he lived in the same building as Sanjay Mishra.

Raghubir often visited Sanjay and got friendly with Sanjay’s wife, Roshni Achreja. The two fell in love and Roshni got pregnant, after which she took divorce from Sanjay. Not just this, Poornima also stated that Raghubir has been in a live-in relationship with Roshni. In her words:

“Raghubir is living-in with Sanjay Mishra's wife Roshni Achreja. He himself has admitted in Court. They have a 14-year-old son!”

In 2020, Raghubir Yadav’s marital life came into the limelight after his estranged wife, Poornima, went to court and demanded Rs. 10 crore alimony and maintenance of Rs. 1 lakh/month.
