Bengali actor, Rahul Arunoday Banerjee’s sudden death on March 29, 2026, is both shocking and heartbreaking. Rahul’s family and the entire Bengali entertainment industry are still navigating through the tragic loss. Ever since Rahul’s untimely demise made headlines, the production house’s multiple versions about what had happened surfaced online. Before tragically passing away, Rahul was busy shooting for the serial, Bhole Baba Par Karega, in Talsari, Digha. According to the latest reports, Rahul’s estranged wife, Priyanka Sarkar, along with members of the Artists Forum, have lodged an FIR against the production house.
A few days ago, the Artist Forum sent a legal letter against Leena Gangopadhyay and Shaibal Banerjee's production company, Magic Moments, regarding Rahul Arunoday Banerjee’s untimely demise. But after getting an unsatisfactory response from the production house, the West Bengal Motion Pictures Artists Forum joint secretary, Shantilal Mukherjee, announced to take legal action on the night of April 3, 2026.

Today, on April 4, 2026, Rahul’s estranged wife, Priyanka Sarkar, along with members of the Artists Forum, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, and more, reached Regent Park Police Station at around 2:30 pm. After about two-and-a-half hours, the FIR process was completed, and Priyanka, along with the members of the Artists Forum, left the police station. Addressing the media, Shantilal said:
"We have filed an FIR demanding a fair investigation. A copy of the FIR is available online. The next steps will be announced later. We have received all possible help from the police. The next steps will be taken as per the advice of our lawyer."

Multiple reports claimed that popular Bengali actor, Rahul Arunoday Banerjee was intoxicated at the time of his passing. In a recent interview with The Wall, film director and close friend of Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, Sourav Palodhi slammed those reports and revealed that the late actor had stopped drinking many months ago. He mentioned that Rahul had never shied away from accepting that he was an alcoholic, but his last few months' activity stated that these are all rumours. Sourav added that raising such a question is a crime at the moment, as Rahul’s near and dear ones want the truth to prevail. He was quoted as saying:
"He himself admitted that this was a problem. Rahulda was trying to overcome. He would come to me and say, 'Sourav, it has been three months but I haven't touched it'. We had a get-together, till that day he didn't touch the glass. This is proven to be a lie. Because there is no mention of it in the autopsy report. The reason for my anger is that this discussion is being instigated to benefit many others. I am uncomfortable with this. I don't know who is spreading this, Rahulda was an alcoholic; it is unfortunate. Raising this discussion is a crime. Raising this question is a crime."

On March 29, 2026, Priyanka Sarkar expressed her grief over her estranged husband, Rahul’s untimely demise. She shared a note on her Instagram handle and requested privacy as she and their family navigate through the tragic loss. She added that everyone’s understanding and support mean a lot during this tough phase. She wrote:
