Raj Babbar is one of the finest actors of his decade, who has contributed significantly to Indian cinema. A trained fellow from the National School of Drama, Raj moved to the showbiz world of Mumbai and tried his luck in Bollywood. He has worked in over thousands of films, some of which include massive hits like Insaf Ka Tarazu, Chann Pardesi, Hum Paanch among others. However, much more than his professional achievements, it is his personal life that has grabbed a lot of limelight. For the unversed, he got married to Nadira Zaheer, and they were blessed with two children, Arya Babbar and Juhi Babbar. Thereafter, despite being a married man, he eloped and married yesteryear actress, late Smita Patil with whom, he had a son, Prateik Babbar.
Despite being the son of two great actor parents, Prateik Babbar could not make as much of a mark in the film industry. For the unversed, he made a rather silent debut into films with the 2008-released film, Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. Ever since, he has not been offered serious and pivotal roles, leading to a downward slope in his career. Moreover, there was also a phase where Prateik was extensively involved with substance abuse, that took a further toll on his career prospects. And now, in a latest interview with Rajshri Unplugged, Prateik’s father, Raj Babbar opened up on his son's struggles in his career and mentioned:
“Prateik is there and he is doing everything. He is very sincerely working. Beech mein ek waqt aaya tha jab usne sabko pareshan kiya tha aur khud bhi pareshan raha tha lekin ab usne apne aap ko iss tarah se mold kiya hai. God is very kind.”

In one of his previous interviews with ETimes, Prateik Babbar had spoken about his low phase in life, where he was in a drowned state due to excessive drug and substance abuse. He shared that he was battling with himself and nothing ever seemed to work on him at that time. He also recalled a particular moment when he was almost near death due to drug overdose. In his words:
“I was battling with myself. The drugs and alcohol didn’t help, in fact they made it worse. I had an overdose and almost died. They woke me up a little. I had to learn it the hard way.”
While Prateik appears to be a macho, handsome man on the outside, deep down in his heart, he is still a little mumma’s boy who misses his mom, late Smita Patil deeply. Every now and then, he takes to his social media handle and shares some special things about his mother, which are extremely nostalgic and emotional for him. For the unversed, Smita Patil passed away shortly after giving birth to Prateik due to certain childbirth complications. On October 2022, Prateik had expressed his emotions about his mother’s birthday. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Prateik mentioned that the particular day always made him feel vulnerable and numb with grief.
