Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra have been one such couple in B-Town who have proven that their love stands strong despite all complexities and difficulties in life. Moreover, while they may not be into mushy PDAs on camera, but in their personal lives, their love and affection for one another have not changed a bit and is very much intact like the way it was when they fell in love. Coming to their personal life, the couple is blessed with two children, Viaan (born in 2012) and Samisha (born in 2020).
Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra welcomed their first child, Viaan Raj Kundra on May 21, 2012. But, prior to the birth of their son, the couple celebrated the coming of their little one as well as the then-pregnant mommy, in a lavish baby shower ceremony that was hosted by Shilpa’s dearest sister, Shamita Shetty.
The event was a star-studded one, which was attended by Shilpa’s friends from all over the industry. Interestingly, the celebration was taken a notch higher when the doting hubby, Raj Kundra gifted his then-pregnant wifey, Shilpa and their unborn child a 24-carat gold spoon.

Well, in India, the ritual of a baby shower or a godbharai is predominantly a women-centric celebration, where fellow married and unmarried ladies come and take part in blessing the mommy-to-be and the soon-to-be-born child with love and best wishes. But, when it came to Shilpa Shetty’s baby shower, her dearest hubby, Raj could not spare a moment afar from her and had actually gate-crashed the event to be the only male attending the ceremony. Recalling that special moment, Raj had spilled beans on attending it and mentioned:
“It felt fantastic, I felt like Kishen Kanhaiya amongst so many women. I gatecrashed. I said, I have also contributed to this, so I also want to go to this party.”
Shilpa is a mom of two and she has been acing the duties of a mommy perfectly. Moreover, she is equally a responsible and doting daughter herself to her mommy, Sunanda Shetty. There was once a time when she had recalled a scary story of her birth. Shilpa mentioned how when her mother was pregnant with her, she bleeded so much that her doctors feared that the child wont survive and would die within 3-4 days of its birth. Moreover, they had also warned Sunanda Shetty that, if the child was to be born, he or she would not be normal at any cost. But despite such forebodings, Shilpa highlighted how her mommy never lost hope and went ahead in bringing her into the world with sheer bravery.

For the unversed, Shilpa and Raj Kundra welcomed a baby girl into their lives, Samisha in 2020, through surrogacy. While most of her fans were over-ecstatic to hear such splendid news, there had been a few people who had judged her choice of surrogacy. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Shilpa had opened up on the reason behind the same, and revealed that she suffered from an auto-immune condition, that led her to have frequent miscarriages. In her words:
“After Viaan, I did want to have another child for the longest time. But I suffered from an auto immune disease called APLA and that came into play every time I get pregnant. So I had a couple of miscarriages so it was a genuine issue.”
