Raj Shamani, a leading name in the digital media, is one of the most successful names in the business world. He is not just an influential YouTuber, but a successful entrepreneur and motivational speaker, who has addressed many global platforms like the United Nations and TEDx. Raj is India’s most popular podcaster, and his podcast, Figuring Out with Raj Shamani, features many influential leaders.
The 27-year-old content creator has built a massive following by interviewing icons like Vijay Mallya, Bill Gates, Aamir Khan and many others. Apart from being one of the most sought-after content creators, Raj is one of the youngest Indian speakers at the United Nations Youth Assembly and a 4-time TEDx speaker.
The young influencer has donned many caps, but do you know, it was never easy for the middle-class boy of Indore to dream this big. The man, who now confidently sits and interviews eminent personalities, once struggled to speak English. At the mere age of 16, he understood his family’s financial struggles and built a business with a turnover of Rs. 200 crores. Let us read on to know more about his struggle story.
Born on July 29, 1997, in Indore, Raj Shamani had seen his father selling coconuts on the streets. In 1990, his father started a dishwasher business and named it, Jadugar. However, when his father had a diabetic attack, the family faced financial struggles. Raj was not very bright academically, and the responsibility of his family fell on his shoulders.
He borrowed a sum of Rs. 10,000 from his father and ventured into the business of soap-making. Raj had no idea about soap making, but got guidance from tutorials and his father, who was a veteran in the business. He launched his own dishwashing liquid, Jadugar Drop, in 2013 and sold his product door to door.

Raj’s strategy was to win over customers. He not only made a high-quality product but also priced the product lower than his competitors. Another unique marketing strategy he adopted was offering 500 ml bottles as free samples, rather than sachets. The marketing strategy paid off well, and by word of mouth, the product gained credibility in the market.
His other genius strategy was to include housewives and offer them an opportunity to earn money. They were given the opportunity to sell the product and earn a commission of 25 per cent. This strategy scaled up his product and got him a reputation in the market for creating equal opportunity for women.
By 2015, Raj was invited to represent India at a United Nations youth program and by 2016, he was delivering motivational speeches at global organisations. He soon merged his company with his father’s trading firm and named it Shamani Industries. The company, boasting a substantial turnover of Rs. 200 crores, has established itself in household products.
By the time his business was established, Raj was giving motivational speeches, but he lacked communicative skills in English. Since he spoke well, Raj worked on himself and enrolled himself in the Youth Representative Program for Young Leaders in the United Nations.
He not only represented his country on the global arena, but also gained the confidence to start something in the same field. In 2021, Raj Shamani launched his podcast, Figuring Out with Raj Shamani and since then has been motivating his viewers through social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube. In 2022, Raj turned author and wrote a book, Build Don’t Talk. In 2023, he was featured on the cover of Forbes magazine.
Though Raj Shamani’s podcast explores relationships and societal issues, he himself has not disclosed any details of his personal life. He is single and unmarried and has been linked with his fellow creator on multiple occasions. However, Raj has never addressed the rumours and has emphasised keeping his personal life out of the public eye.
Raj Shamani has become the first-ever Indian creator to be named brand ambassador for ASUS ExpertBook. Raj’s partnership with Asus will help new generation who start small to dream big. The announcement would bring together the youth and would build a meaningful narrative around ambition and productivity.
Raj Shamani’s struggle story is a reminder that hard work pays off. He has motivated millions of people with his inspirational journey.
