The Meghalaya honeymoon murder case has horrified the nation with its shocking brutality, where an innocent man lost his life at the hands of his own wife. Now, the case has taken an unexpected twist as the victim, Raja Raghuvanshi’s sister, Shrasti Raghuwansh, is facing severe backlash for using inappropriate hashtags while posting about her brother’s tragic death on social media. After getting slammed previously for making viral content out of the tragedy, Shrasti’s latest Instagram post on her brother has grabbed netizens’ attention as they saw hashtags like ‘trending’, ‘reel’, and ‘instamood’ in the caption.
Shrasti, who claims to be Raja’s cousin, has been actively posting wedding reels and emotional updates on her social media since Raja’s death. She is an influencer with more than 4 lakh followers on Instagram, and she had not posted anything with Raja until his wedding. However, netizens were shocked when her posts were found to include hashtags like #reel #trending #like #follow #instamood, alongside serious tags like #justice #broandsis #raja. Screenshots of these posts quickly went viral across social media, with users slamming the influencer for using her brother’s murder for clout.
The discussion platform, Reddit, saw several threads featuring screenshots from Shrasti’s IG post and the hashtags, slamming the influencer for being insensitive to her brother’s tragic demise. One Redditor wrote, “The brother is such a poor soul... His wife first got him assassinated... And the Sister is milking his death for clout… Raja Raghuvanshi... I hope, if there is an afterlife or a rebirth, you get the best one... You didn't deserve any of this shit in this life. Peace!” Responding to the thread, another user added:
“She's his cousin sister who is an influencer on Instagram. If you see her profile you aren't going to see this guy (Raja) before he got married. She attended his marriage and made reels during his marriage… when this news came of the couple being missing, she started making reels related to them, and side by side also making content for other things too. It might be right to say though they were cousins, she used his disappearance, and now his death for getting reach and followers (as you all mentioned about the hashtags used).”
Raja’s lifeless body was found in a gorge on June 2, 2025, along with a dao, suspected to be the murder weapon, found in the location. Earlier, when Raja and his wife, Sonam, mysteriously disappeared on their honeymoon, Shrasti was seen making numerous appeals on social media for the couple’s whereabouts.
However, netizens also noticed that the influencer posted promotional content in the middle of these tragic unfoldings, and it didn’t sit well with many. One user commented on Shasti’s post, "Beech tregedy mein promotional videos bhi dal diye.. or esi videos me bhi editing chal rahi hai. Waaahhh re social media."
Raja Raghuvanshi, a 29-year-old from Madhya Pradesh, mysteriously went missing with his wife Sonam during their honeymoon in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills on May 23, 2025. After an extensive search, his body was recovered on June 2, 2025, from a gorge near the Weisawdong waterfalls. Subsequent investigations uncovered a chilling conspiracy: Sonam, along with her lover, Raj Khushwaha, and three hired assailants, had orchestrated Raja’s brutal murder.
