Rajeev Khandelwal has wooed millions of fans with his personality and the roles he portrayed on television. His journey started with Kahiin To Hoga, and he played diverse roles as a protagonist. He even left a visible mark in Bollywood. However, his journey has not been an easy one. Rajeev revealed that since he was born and brought up with humble beginnings, he had to face his father's wrath for choosing to become an actor.
When Rajeev announced his decision to pursue acting as a profession in the early 2000s, his parents didn't say yes in the blink of an eye. In fact, he had to face his father's wrath as he didn't understand why he wanted to become an actor. In an interview with Zoom, Rajeev revealed that his parents threw him out of his house as he comes from an army background.
Rajeev stated that his parents knew that he could make a decent living, but they didn't understand his passion for 'lights, camera and action'. Rajeev was quoted as saying:
"I was thrown out of my house. I come from an army background. My parents said they didn’t understand what this industry is all about. They knew that I had it in me to live my life decently but they wondered ‘acting ka bhoot kaha se aagaya’. They knew that I spoke about acting since my childhood, but they never thought that I would want to make it my career."
Rajeev further stated that his parents forced him to focus on his studies and pursue a good-paying career rather than dive into the world of acting. The actor further recalled how his father harshly told him that he didn't have enough money to sponsor his dream to actor. Reminiscing the years-old conversation, Rajeev said:
"It was like either you stay here and do the conventional things which students of your age are doing, (otherwise) if you want to be a romantic hero and do acting, I don’t have the money to sponsor you."
In the same interview, Rajeev revealed how he ended up pursuing his dream. He said that when he was about to start his graduation he tried everywhere but wasn't able to clear any entrance exams. That's when he thought, it was time to focus on something that could take him closer to his dream of becoming an actor, and it paid off for him.
