‘Love’- this simple four-lettered word evokes gazillion emotions in gazillion people! Upon hearing the term love, some people go into sheer nostalgia with a slight upwards curve at the side of their lips. Some people’s eyes well-up, some people look hither and thither in confusion for it has never happened to them, while some smile with a sense of satisfaction. In this one short and precious life, we may come across a number of instances which we fondly term as love, but there is always that one person who will be there as it was meant to be. And recently married hottie, Sushmita Sen’s brother, Rajeev Sen can definitely vouch for the same. Rajeev Sen is now a happily married man. Love apparently came twice in his life, only to point his love compass towards his now beautiful wife, Charu Asopa Sen. The star brother-cum-entrepreneur has been in the limelight mostly due to his stunning sister, Sushmita Sen, but it was his rumoured flings with some of the known faces of the glamour world that grabbed Rajeev many headlines. It was in the year 2014 when Rajeev Sen was rumoured to be dating one of the most famous faces of the telly town, Kratika Sengar. Their Twitter PDA calling each other ‘baby’ and showering word-kisses on one another made it to the headlines though they had profusely denied any dating rumours. When the khichdi was still cooking in the kitchen, headlines all over had it that Kratika was all set to marry Nikitin Dheer and the stage was all set for the same! Thus, ended Rajeev and Kratika’s dating rumours and probably, their budding ‘friendship’.
A few years later, in 2017, came about another round of rumours. Rajeev Sen was apparently more than ‘just friends’ with Kriti Sanon’s sister, Nupur Sanon. The duo had apparently met in Mumbai and had hit off instantly. A DNA report had then quoted a source saying, “Rajeev is based in Dubai, but he keeps travelling to Mumbai. He and Nupur met at one of the parties, where each accompanied their sister. They clicked and have become friends. Right now, they are keeping their budding friendship under wraps as he also has acting aspirations. Even Nupur Sanon wants to follow her sister into films.” The report also had it that Rajeev had met Nupur’s family and the duo ‘get along very well’. But no one can beat destiny’s plans! While that was all about Rajeev Sen’s past, it was on February 2016, when Charu Asopa too, had gotten engaged to Neeraj Malviya, who had played the role of her brother in her superhit show, Mere Angne Mein. The two even had an intimate engagement ceremony in Bhopal and were all set to tie the knot a year later but the Universe had some other plans for them. Charu, recalling the same had shared, “Shaadi ki planning mein oopar-neeche hota hai. I feel that we could have been a bit patient and worked on our issues. While he was certain that it had ended, I kept hoping for things to work out. I even told everyone that the marriage would happen, but it wasn’t destined.”
Charu Asopa had also stated, “Besides, I feel that he developed cold feet at the last minute and wanted to focus on his career. I was devastated for a year-and-a-half. Split ke baad jo mera haal hua hai woh main hi jaanti hoon. After all, I was all set to get married and had dreams for my big day. It was a struggle to get out of that mess. I travelled a lot to deviate my mind. I also underwent counselling and was on anti-anxiety pills. I had become directionless.”
Charu Asopa firmly believes that whatever happens, happens for the good. This is what she had revealed after her breakup, "I feel proud of myself for the way I emerged from that break-up. And now, my life has taken a new turn. I had stopped thinking about love, but Rajeev entered my life like a breath of fresh air."
But look what happens when you have faith in destiny! You end up marrying the man of your dreams. In an interview with the Bombay Times, Charu had revealed if it was a love at first sight for her and Rajeev. She had shared, "After our first meeting, we had decided to catch up again over coffee, but I left for my hometown, Bikaner. I was on a much-needed break after my show, Jiji Maa, ended. In fact, I hadn’t decided when to return. However, as luck would have it, I was offered KarnSangini and had to report on the set the very next day. I texted Rajeev from the set and told him that we could meet for coffee. I had assumed that the meeting would end in half an hour. However, we went on talking for hours until I told him that I had to leave as I had an early call time the next day. We started chatting, spending time together and the rest, as they say, is history.
