Rakesh Roshan Took A Massive Debt To Launch Son, Hrithik, Reveals Sunaina Roshan, 'We Never Knew...'

Hrithik Roshan's sister, Sunaina Roshan, has been extremely vocal about her battle with alcoholism. While it was not an easy journey for her or her family, the producer turned her life around after getting some professional help. She has also been sharing with fans some of the most vulnerable chapters of the Roshan clan. Now, she has opened up about her father, Rakesh Roshan's debt, which he had previously hidden from them.

Rakesh Roshan went to great lengths for his family. After transitioning his career from acting to direction, the filmmaker built a brand for himself, which has only gotten stronger. And his children, Hrithik Roshan and Sunaina Roshan, have attempted to take their father's legacy forward in their own respective careers. However, Rakesh's journey has not been easy, as he has faced significant financial burdens as a director as well.

Rakesh Roshan has opened up about his struggle in the industry in his Netflix documentary, The Roshans. Now, in a recent interview with News18, his daughter, Sunaina Roshan has also shared about the struggles her father persevered through. She also recalled the huge debt her father had taken to launch her brother, Hrithik Roshan, in Kaho Na... Pyaar Hai. She was quoted as saying:

"We were very young to understand, especially when Dad started his acting career. As a producer, he had mortgaged his house twice, and the cars, and the office during Kaho Na Pyaar Hai and Khudgarz. He gambled with his life a lot, but he was fearless in doing so."

In the same conversation, Sunaina Roshan pointed out how her father, Rakesh Roshan, never brought his work home. She revealed that as kids, she and Hrithik Roshan had no idea what their father was going through. She added that they were shielded from everything because Rakesh never made a big deal out of it, and fortunately, there was no social media at the time. She was quoted as saying:

"We never knew that side of him because he never showed us what we were going through. I and my brother both had a very peaceful childhood. We never had to deal with people talking about our backgrounds because times were very different back then. There was no social media, thankfully, and Dad himself didn't make it that big."

Rakesh Roshan had previously addressed the financial struggles 

Both Hrithik and his father, Rakesh Roshan, have previously discussed the financial struggles that the latter went through. In a conversation with Mid-Day, Rakesh revealed that his children were never aware of the debt. Only his wife was aware of it. He was quoted as saying:

"Hrithik never knew, I never told him. Only my wife knew about it. I said I am mortgaging the house, maybe if I require, I will take money, otherwise I will try to manage. But it so happened that I managed it in the funds I had. Had the film not done well, then I would have to shift somewhere else or… but I took that chance."
