Born on November 25, 1978, to her mother, Maya Bheda, the queen of controversy, Rakhi Sawant is often hailed as one of the most entertaining Indian celebrities. Rakhi Sawant has established herself as a sex symbol in India, but it is still an unknown fact that her real name is Neeru Sawant. The stunning actress had changed it before entering the film industry and has never revealed why she decided to change her name to Rakhi from Neeru.
Rakhi Sawant was born to her mother, Maya Bheda and her ex-husband (name unknown). After her divorce from her ex-husband, Maya had tied the marital knot once again with Anand Sawant, who was a police constable at the Worli Police Station in Mumbai.
According to reports, Maya had decided to give her three children the surname 'Sawant' of their step-father. Rakhi is also blessed with two siblings, Rakesh Sawant and Usha Sawant. While her brother is a film director, her sister is also an actress.

After a lot of hard work and dedication, in 1997, Rakhi Sawant had made her acting debut in the film, Agnichakra. However, at that time, she hadn't finalised her decision of changing her name from Neeru Sawant to Rakhi Sawant. So, as a result, the actress had picked the name Ruhi Sawant for her debut film. After which, she had worked in films like Joru Ka Ghulam, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hain, Main Hoon Na, and many more.

It was in 2006 when Rakhi Sawant and Mika Singh were the talk of the town after their kiss controversy on the latter's birthday. The popular singer had forcibly kissed the actress during his birthday party in front of everyone. After which, Rakhi had reportedly filed a case of molestation against Mika. However, on the flip side of the story, Mika Singh had said that Rakhi had kissed him first. Thus, the heat had settled down after some time, and the case had died long back.
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Rakhi Sawant had opened up about a lot of internal things about her family. The actress had shockingly recalled the incident when her mother, Jaya Bheda, had cursed her of dying the moment she was born. Revealing the reason behind her mother's disheartening statement, Rakhi had stated that it had happened after her mom got to know about her and Mika Singh's kiss controversy. She had said:
"There was a time when my mother told me, 'What is this, your controversies? I wish you died the moment you were born.' This happened after my family turned on my mother, after my incident with Mika Singh."
Rakhi Sawant had worked as a waitress at the businessman, Anil Ambani's wedding with popular actress, Tina Munim in 1991. In a 2007 interview with television magazine, GR8!, Rakhi had left everyone shocked when she had opened up about her struggling phase and had stated that she had worked for Rs. 50 at Anil and Tina's wedding. Recalling the same, the actress had shared:
"When I was around 10 years of age I was working for a caterer to earn daily wages of 50 rupees and I have served food at Tina Ambani's wedding."

In her heart-to-heart conversation with the television magazine, GR8!, an emotional Rakhi Sawant had opened up about her childhood days. The actress had revealed how she and her whole family had lived in a chawl system in Mumbai. Reflecting on the same, she had said:
"In a chawl system, parents don't allow a girl to go outside play, but when it comes to earning money, they allow her to go ahead and do anything. That time they forget the shame and humour of the family."
Rakhi Sawant had broken the headlines when in 2014, she had announced that she had formed a political party of her own with the name, Rashtriya Aam Party. The actress had participated in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, but it was a heavy defeat for the actress, as she had got only 15 votes in total. After which, she had resigned from her party and had joined the Republican Party of India. The actress was named as the president of the women wing and also the party's state vice-president.

In July 2016, a Punjab-based advocate, Narinder Adiya had filed a complaint against Rakhi Sawant after she had made some controversial remarks against sage Valmiki. The actress had called Valmiki a 'murderer' that had made the whole Valmiki community furious. Although it was reported that the Punjab Police had arrested the actress, it was clearly stated by the Ludhiana commissioner of police, Kunwar Vijay Pratap, that no confirmation could be given on her arrest. Soon, the matter had passed off in the sand of time.
Rakhi Sawant's love life has always been a spicy one, as she had dated four men in her life so far and had controversial incidents with all four of them.
The first one on the list is Abhishek Awasthi, who was in a relationship with Rakhi for three years. The ex-couple had also participated in the dance reality shows, Zara Nachke Dikha and Nach Baliye 3. However, after some time, the two had parted ways with each other. Although, Abhishek had gone to Rakhi's house to apologise for his mistakes and to reconcile with his ex-girlfriend. But Rakhi was so furious that she had started slapping him in public. The second man on the list is Elesh Parujanwala, who was the winner of Rakhi Sawant's show, Rakhi Ka Swayamvar. However, the actress had promised to her fans that she would tie the knot with the show's winner but had later changed it to an engagement ceremony. However, after some months, Rakhi and Elesh had parted ways and had broken their engagement, leaving everyone surprised.
The third man in Rakhi Sawant's list of lovers is the man of controversies, Deepak Kalal. The couple were expected to get married on December 31, 2018, in Los Angeles, but the two had called off their wedding without even revealing the reason behind it.
After all the link-ups and alleged relationships, Rakhi Sawant has confirmed in many of her interviews that she had tied the knot with her lover, Ritesh, in a secret ceremony at JW Marriott in Mumbai with close friends and family in attendance. Rakhi had also added that she had made sure to keep the wedding a secret. The couple had married in a private room instead of a wedding hall.
Rakhi Sawant will soon enter the reality show, Bigg Boss 15. However, this time, it will be a special appearance with her husband, Ritesh. In an interview with The Times Of India, Rakhi had revealed that people had thought that her wedding was a publicity gimmick. She had shared that they had not believed her marriage news and called it a fragment of her fiction. The actress had said:
"Of course I am married, and finally the world will see my husband Ritesh. I am entering the Bigg Boss house along with him. I am very happy and looking forward to this stint in BB15."
