Neetu Kapoor had begun her acting career at the age of six with the film, Suraj in 1966. She rose to prominence with films like Deewaar, Kabhi Kabhi, Amar Akbar Anthony. After marrying Rishi Kapoor, Neetu took a sabbatical from acting to focus on her family. Neetu made a comeback in 2009 and was seen in films like Love Aaj Kal, Do Dooni Chaar, Besharam.
On April 30, 2020, Neetu lost her biggest support system when her husband, Rishi Kapoor bid adieu to the world and left for the heavenly abode. After Rishi Kapoor’s death, Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni have been their mother’s pillar of strength. We have often seen how Ranbir and Riddhima visit their mom on and off, making sure of her well-being.

On July 8, 2021, Neetu Kapoor turned 63 and to mark her birthday, Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni hosted a birthday dinner. Riddhima took to her IG stories and shared pictures of the celebrations attended by Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Soni Razdan, Shaheen Bhatt, Randhir Kapoor, Babita and few others.

Riddhima also posted an adorable picture with Ranbir posing with their mother from the family dinner. Neetu and Riddhima twinned in blue, while Ranbir looked dapper in a black shirt. Along with the picture, Riddhima wrote, “Me and mine! Happiest birthday, Ma! We love you so much.”
When Neetu had turned 62 on July 8, 2020, her doting daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni had posted a beautiful picture with her and Ranbir Kapoor. In the picture, Neetu had looked gorgeous in her black outfit, Riddhima had opted for a white dress, and Ranbir had looked handsome in his floral green t-shirt. Along with the picture-perfect selfie, Riddhima had written a heart-melting caption which could be read as "Happiest bday my Iron Lady I love you so much Ma."

Last year, Neetu shared glimpses of her 62nd birthday celebrations, in which, Ranbir was seen feeding her a piece of cake. Riddhima Kapoor and her daughter, Samaira Kapoor, could also be seen in the frame cheering. She had captioned the pictures as "The richest are the ones with good relationships!!! We all need love, support strength from our loved ones always. I feel the richest today" followed by red heart emojis.
In an interview with Filmfare, Neetu Kapoor had opened up on not living with her children Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. Talking about the same Neetu had said, “I want them to be busy with their lives. I say mere dil mein raho, mere sar pe mat chadho (stay in my heart, don’t stand on my head). When Riddhima was with me for the pandemic, I was so stressed for one year because she couldn’t go back. I used to get so restless. I used to tell her Riddhima to go back, Bharat is alone. I was literally pushing her away. I like my privacy. I am used to this way of life.”
