Ranbir Kapoor Feels Humbled To Have Played 'Lord Ram' In Ramayana, Says, 'Just To Be A Part..'

Ranbir Kapoor has finally spoken about essaying the role of 'Lord Ram' in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, which will be in two parts. The mythological drama film will be released in 2026 and 2027 and will be the retelling of India's greatest story on the big screen.

Ranbir Kapoor opens up on playing 'Lord Ram' in Ramayana

Ranbir was at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, where he spoke about how humbled he felt playing the role of 'Lord Ram'. The actor also mentioned that it was a dream come true for the actor. In his words:

"Just to be a part of that story, I am so humbled to essay Ram’s role. It’s a dream for me. It’s a film that has everything. It teaches what Indian culture is about — family dynamics and husband-wife dynamics."

Ranbir Kapoor reveals unheard details of epic lore, Ramayana

The actor, going ahead in the interview, revealed that he was working on the greatest story, Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. His childhood friend, Namit Malhotra, who is passionate about turning this book into a movie, has the best of all the artists, creative people, and crew. Ranbir also said that he had completed shooting the first part of Ramayana and will start shooting for the second part very soon.

Ranbir Kapoor, who will be seen in Nitesh Tiwari's much-talked-about film, Ramayana, will share screen space with Sai Pallavi. The film will also have Yash playing 'Ravana'. Yash will also be co-producing the movie and once the Hollywood Reporter India about Ramayana's production in a recent interview. In Yash's words:

"If the character is treated like a character, if this doesn’t happen today, then the film won’t happen. To make a film with that kind of budget, you need those kinds of actors to come together."

In the Red Sea Film Festival, Ranbir also mentioned that the story would be told to the new generation with advanced technology. He also felt it was a very exciting and gratifying opportunity for him as an actor to play 'Lord Ram'. For the unversed, Arun Govil and Lara Dutta will also be playing pivotal roles in the movie. A report by NDTV states that Sunny Deol has been roped in to essay the role of 'Lord Hanuman'. However, no official confirmation related to the same has come in the limelight. Sheeba Chaddha would be playing the role of 'Manthara'.
