Ranbir Kapoor Talks About Rishi Kapoor's Impact On Him, Recalls The Last Two Years Spent Together

The year 2020 had begun on a sad note with the global pandemic but the grief had worsened when one of the shiniest stars of Bollywood, Rishi Kapoor had bid adieu to his loved ones. On the morning of April 30, 2020, the nation had woken up to the shocking news of the veteran actor’s death. The 68-year-old-actor was fighting with cancer and had freed himself from the pain and had left for the heavenly abode. But the vacuum and pain he had left behind were immense and nothing can fathom it. (Also Read: Gauahar Khan Gets A Surprise From Her 'Sasural' And Hubby-To-Be, Zaid Darbar A Day Before Wedding)

We have seen how Neetu Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni share throwback pictures of the veteran actor. And just like both of them, Ranbir Kapoor too misses his father’s presence. Ranbir had never shared a close bond with his father and had wished to be friendlier with him. In a throwback interview, Ranbir had revealed that as a kid, he was petrified of his father. When Rishi ji would ask him to eat his vegetables, Ranbir would start crying. He had also revealed that when he had made his acting debut, he had dreaded his father, Rishi ji’s reaction.

In a recent interview with Rajeev Masand, Ranbir Kapoor opened up about the impact his late father, Rishi Kapoor had on him. Talking about the last two years spent with his dad, Ranbir shared, “I think the person I am is because of the strong value system he imbibed in me. He's been an extremely passionate man, a family man. Just the time I spent with him in these last 2 years before he passed... walking with him from the hotel to the hospital while he was getting his chemotherapy and just walking in silence and just being around him… it's gone so fast but I don't know if I have really formed words yet to tell what impact he has had on me. But I do know that it's the largest impact a human being has had in my life so far.”

In an interaction with Filmfare, Ranbir Kapoor had talked about the one thing that he cannot do like his late father, Rishi Kapoor. When he was asked if he would ever write his autobiography, just like his father, Ranbir had said that he feels he can never write an autobiography. He had said that he has no courage to put out his life out there in open for public. He had also added that no matter how great a human being he was meant to become, he is still a little bit of a hypocrite, and doesn’t think that his personality is interesting enough to open up. (Also Read: Kajol's Season Greetings Include Pictures Of Ajay, Nysa, Yug, Tanishaa And Her Mother, Tanuja)

In 2017, when Rishi ji had launched his biography, Khullam Khulla, it was his son, Ranbir, who had expressed his love for his father. He had written, “I love my father dearly and have immense respect for him. I'm inspired by him and never want to let him down. I know he has only my best interests at heart. He also takes care of the financial side of my work. So we are more connected now. His confidence in me and my work makes me take pride in it. I persevere that much harder because of this. His belief and his encouragement are important to me."

A few months back, a picture of the Kapoor family including late Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and Ranbir Kapoor had emerged on social media. The picture had seemed to be from one of Riddhima’s pre-wedding ceremonies. While Rishi ji had opted for a casual tee and pants, Neetu ji had flaunted her brightest smile in a green-coloured suit and they both had looked calm and content, happy holding their daughter. Riddhima had looked stunning in her no-makeup look, donning a pretty light-orange coloured suit and Ranbir, as usual, had made our hearts swoon with his ear-to-ear smile in a white kurta(Also Read: Anurag Kashyap's Daughter, Aaliyah Kashyap Shares Cute Lip-Lock Photo With Her Beau, Shane Gregoire)
