Deepika Padukone was once madly in love with Ranbir Kapoor. Their relationship made a lot of noise in Tinseltown, as the duo's camaraderie was simply unmissable. Ranbir and Deepika worked together in movies like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Tamasha, and Bachna Ae Haseeno. Ranbir and Deepika dated for about two years before calling it quits in 2009. But even after parting ways, the ex-couple shares a close bond and is cordial together.
Recently, we got hold of an old video of Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor, wherein they were seen answering their fans' queries. The host narrated a fan's question who had asked Ranbir about the most important person in his life. Responding to it, the actor said that his parents, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, were the most important to him. In his words:

"Hi Muskan, I think my parents would be the most important for me..."
However, Deepika interrupted in between and, without looking at Ranbir, said, "Mommy". But Ranbir didn't react to it. Now that the video has surfaced online, netizens have strongly reacted to it. While some hailed Deepika for being hilariously honest, others wondered if Neetu Kapoor was the reason behind the duo's breakup. Meanwhile, a section of social media users also mentioned that they miss this old version of Deepika.

After Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone's breakup, people started speculating about the possible reason behind it. While some reports stated that Ranbir's closeness with Katrina Kaif, caused their split, rumour mills also had it that Neetu Kapoor didn’t like Deepika. However, in 2013, during his appearance on Rajat Sharma’s TV show, Aap Ki Adalat, Ranbir clarified the rumours about his mother being the reason behind his breakup with his ex-girlfriend, Deepika Padukone and said:
"It's an issue between two individuals, but people work on several theories and then disturb things. My mother loves me a lot and wants me to live my own life. My mother is also very fond of Deepika. So, at least this was not the reason for the split. I want to clarify, my mother was not the reason for the break-up."
Ranbir Kapoor’s mom, Neetu Kapoor, too, had once talked about her son's breakup with Deepika Padukone. It so happened that during the ‘Meet the Parent’ section of Simi Garewal’s chat show, India’s Most Desirable, Neetu was asked about the reason behind Ranbir and Deepika’s breakup. Talking about it, the veteran actress said that Ranbir had had just one girlfriend, Deepika, but there was something missing in their relationship. She added that Ranbir was probably not himself and he needed to break off and move on. Neetu also mentioned that if their relationship had been perfect, they wouldn’t have broken up.
