Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor’s love story doesn’t need any introduction. Their love affair had started during the shoot of their film, Fida and it was the talk of the town for all the time they had dated. Their fans had always prayed to see them getting married. The two were always serious about each other and their relationship that they had never refrained from talking about it in public or being vocal about their wedding plans. However, destiny had some other plans and the two are now happy in their life with their respective partners. Speaking about Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor’s breakup, it reminds us of the lines, Woh Jo Kehte The Bichdenge Na Hum Kabhi, Alvida Ho Gaye Dekhte Dekhte… as it perfectly describes the beginning and the end of their famous relationship. Shahid and Kareena were quite vocal about their ‘more than just friends’ relationship in media interviews but a few years later, their love had died a slow death and in 2007, the two had parted ways as Kareena had fallen in love with Saif Ali Khan. Their families were equally involved in their relationship and once, Kareena Kapoor’s father, Randhir Kapoor had given a nickname to her then-boyfriend, Shahid Kapoor.

On Karan Johar’s talk show, Koffee With Karan, the host had invited the famous Kapoor siblings, Randhir Kapoor, late Rishi Kapoor and late Rajeev Kapoor, where the siblings had revealed some hilarious anecdotes from their lives. While talking about how the Kapoor’s had got some great nicknames, Karan Johar had asked Randhir ji to give a nickname for his daughter, Kareena’s then-boyfriend, Shahid Kapoor. Without taking any time, Randhir ji had said, "Dodo". Well, Dodo had gone well with Bebo, however, soon, after the couple had decided to part ways.
In 2016, when pregnant Kareena Kapoor Khan had appeared on Koffee With Karan, the host of the show, Karan Johar had asked her reaction if she was stuck in an elevator with her ex, Shahid Kapoor and husband, Saif Ali Khan. Calling it an ‘amazing’ scenario, Bebo had replied, “It would be amazing. They are doing an amazing film together (Rangoon) and get along really well. In an interview with Anupama Chopra for Film Companion, Kareena had bared her heart out and had talked about the infamous breakup and how she had met her husband, Saif Ali Khan on the sets of Tashan. Kareena had shared that she was excited to play the lead in Tashan and had thought that it will change her life and career. And then Shahid had informed her about Jab We Met script. Kareena had said, "It was Shahid who actually said that I should hear this script of this film. He was like, ‘It’s amazing, the girl’s part is amazing and you should do it.’ He kind of actually got this entire project together and both of us ended up doing this film. Of course, then destiny had its own plan and life took its own course. A lot happened in the making of this film and Tashan and our lives... We all kind of went our separate ways. And this beauty of a movie came out of it."

In a throwback interview with the Cosmopolitan, Kareena had talked about Shahid and her relationship. She had shared, "We do the stuff any other young couple does, eating out, watching movies...I really enjoy watching movies. When we get a chance, we go to Fame Ad Labs to see films, we sneak in when it's dark after the movie has started. It's lovely. It's so relaxing. That's what I enjoy most about being with Shahid.
