On March 31, 2022, Rishi Kapoor's much-awaited last film, Sharmaji Namkeen opened to tremendous reviews. Over the past few days, Rishi Kapoor's son, Ranbir Kapoor was busy promoting the film. From calling it his father's best performance to giving a tribute to him by dancing to his iconic song, Om Shanti Om, Ranbir is making sure to leave no stone unturned to be an integral part of the film.
In an interview with NDTV, Ranbir Kapoor had revealed that his uncle, Randhir Kapoor was so moved by Rishi Kapoor's performance in Sharmaji Namkeen that he had asked him to call Rishi. Ranbir had further stated that Randhir has still not overcome the grief of losing his brother. Revealing the reason behind Randhir's reaction, Ranbir had stated that his uncle, Randhir is going through the early stage of dementia.

Now, in an interview with ETimes, Randhir reacted to Ranbir's statement and rubbished it by saying that he is perfectly fine. When asked why his nephew, Ranbir made such a claim, the veteran actor shared that he is entitled to whatever he wants. In his words:
"Aisa kuch nahi hua. Not at all. I am perfectly fine. I just had COVID sometime ago."
In a 2021 interview with The Times Of India, Randhir Kapoor had bared his heart and had shared how difficult the past years had been for him. In the span of two and a half years, the Housefull 2 actor had lost his lovely mother, Krishna Kapoor, sister, Ritu Nanda and two dearest siblings, Rajiv Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor. He could be quoted as saying:
"The last year has been a very sad time in my life. Sad is really a modest word here; worst would be apt. In a matter of 10 months, I lost both my darling brothers- Chintu (Rishi Kapoor) and Chimpu (Rajiv Kapoor). Also, I lost my mother (Krishna Kapoor) and sister (Ritu Nanda) in the last two-and-a-half years."

On May 08, 2020, the official page of Star World had released a clip from Karan Johar’s chat show, Koffee With Karan, in which Karan had invited Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor on his show, and Randhir had revealed the whole story:

In an interview with a leading news agency, Randhir Kapoor had talked about the way the whole Kapoor family is trying their best to cope with the loss of Rishi Kapoor. The veteran actor had revealed that they missed him every day, and had stated:
“God has been kind and the family is holding up well. We are taking one day at a time but we all miss him every day. We shared a common bond over friends, family, food and films.”
For the unversed, Rishi Kapoor had bid adieu to the world on April 30, 2020.
