Rani Mukreji is one of the finest actresses in Bollywood. She made her acting debut with a Bengali film, Biyer Phool, in 1996. However, it was the Hindi film, Raja Ki Aayegi Barat that made her an overnight sensation. Since then, the actress has not looked back and has appeared in many blockbuster movies. Apart from being an amazing actress, Rani is a doting wife to her husband, Aditya Chopra and a loving mother to their daughter, Adira. Recently, she talked about her motherhood journey and more.
Currently, Rani Mukerji is leading all the headlines for her film, Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. While promoting her film on Kareena Kapoor Khan's talk show, What Women Want, Rani opened up about her motherhood journey. The actress even talked about why she took a sabbatical from films after the birth of her daughter, Adira. Talking about the same, Rani revealed that her daughter was born prematurely and was even admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). In her words:

"Also in my case, my daughter is premature, so she came to me two months before her due time. She was like really tiny. I was stressed and as a mother, your motherly instinct kicks in. She was in the NICU for about 7 days, when she was supposed to be there for 15 days. But luckily with god's grace all the parameters that a baby needs to do, Adira just kicked in."

Further, in the same conversation, Rani opened up about embracing motherhood and mentioned that becoming a mother changes everything for a woman. She went on to say that once a mother holds her baby, they realise that they are not important anymore. Rani also stated that becoming a mother makes one release that one can love someone more than anything in this world. Elaborating more about it, Rani said:
"I think what happens to women when they become mothers is that there's something in us that changes immediately. The minute you see the baby out of your system and you look at that baby's face, you suddenly realise that you're not important anymore. There's somebody else more important than you. It's the first time in our lives that we realise we love somebody more than ourselves. When that moment happened in my life, for me, there was nothing more important than my child."
Earlier, during a promotional event for her upcoming film, Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway, Rani had opened up about putting herself into Sagarika's (real-life Sagarika Chatterjee, on whom the film is based) shoes. Talking about the same, the actress mentioned that she could not fathom the idea of her daughter, Adira being away from her, so she could only think of her mother when she read about the film's character.
