In an interview with IndiaToday.com, Rani Mukerji opened up about how in the early days of her career, before entering Bollywood she had felt insecure about certain things, and didn't want to be an actor. Revealing that it was her mother who had forced her to sign her first film, Rani shared:

"I never thought I fit into the heroine category in the typical sense. I am actually the opposite of a heroine. I am quite short in height, my voice is not heroine-friendly, the complexion of my skin is wheatish. I think when I started, I never believed I could be an actor."

Further in the interview, the actress added that as her journey had begun, she had spoken to many stars with whom she had the opportunity to work with, and it was actor, Kamal Haasan, who had helped her to break the ‘stereotypical conventions’ in Bollywood.

"He told me that you can’t measure your success by the height of your physical standing, but by the heights of how much you can grow professionally. So I sort of broke all those stereotypical conventions that an actress was put into in my initial days of Bollywood journey."

"Even at a time when I was having my baby, and I was not sure about going back to the arclights, it was my husband who reminded me of the fan following that I have and that I needed to go back again and face the camera because I am no longer Rani Mukerji the person, but Rani Mukerji the star that my fans have created."

Rani Mukerji had made her comeback after delivering Adira with the movie, Hichki and was juggling between her shooting schedules and movie promotions. In an interview with the Filmfare during her movie promotions, Rani had revealed how she had managed to shoot and spend time with her daughter and had said:

“I always take the slot of the afternoon because she sleeps at this time. So, I take the advantage and when she is sleeping, I kind of come, do my work and go back home. When I was shooting for the film also, I used to go early in the morning to shoot and five-six hours of work I used to finish in the morning and go back home before her lunchtime. So, she doesn't miss me too much because when a baby wakes up, she has her own routine."
