Yesterday, February 14, 2019, Deepika’s father, legendary badminton player, Prakash Padukone was felicitated with a prestigious award by a sports magazine. While spotting Deepika to support her father wasn’t unexpected, what we loved most is when the doting son-in-law, Ranveer Singh too, came by to honour his father-in-law. Shutterbugs grabbed the most out of this one-of-a-kind moment and here are glimpses of the same for you:
Deepika has time and again shared how supportive her parents always have been in whatever decision she makes. Earlier, in an interview, Ranveer had openly confessed his love for Bollywood’s Padmavati and labelled her as a ‘marriage material’. When Prakash Padukone was asked about the same, he was quoted as saying, “They are adults and know what they are doing. As father, I have given Deepika the freedom to take her own decisions. Even in this case, she is free to decide whatever she wants to do.”
Deepika has mostly made all the right choices in her filmy career, but the actress had also grabbed a lot of headlines due to her various linkup rumours. Speaking about if it affects him, Prakash ji had shared, “Initially, we found it difficult. But nowadays, we're used to it. Some of it - what is being reported is true, but some of it is absolutely not correct. But it is a part and parcel of... you can't have only good things. One has to accept it”. In a last year’s interview with Filmfare, Deepika couldn’t stop praising her daddy dear. She had shared, “His radiance reflects in his personality. Since my team stays in touch with dad regarding my work, they always talk about him and say, ‘How cute is your father!” He is such a humble person and there is so much goodness in him that it all radiates. I don’t think my sister, Anisha and I could have asked for a better role model than him.”
Did you know, when Deepika had shifted to Mumbai to struggle for her acting career, it had given her sleepless nights? Yes, speaking about the same in an interview, the star dad had shared, “It was extremely difficult for us. We were very nervous because she was not even 18. She didn't have a place to stay. She was moving into a new field. At that time we felt she was too young to move out. But now when I look back, I think she did the right thing. Because in that profession, you need to start early.” Deepika had too agreed and stated, “I am sure they had sleepless nights then but I think I was extremely focussed. I knew exactly where I wanted to be.”
Prior to her wedding, in an interview with Rajdeep Sardesai on his show, India Today India Tomorrow, Deepika had shared, “I'm excited in the same way as I'm excited about signing my next film. Marriage is something that I've always looked forward to in my life, as would any other girl." Further speaking about her inspiration towards a happy marriage, the Happy New Year star stated, “I've seen my parents do it so well and so successfully and I think for me, that's the way I would like my married life to be as well. My parents have a beautiful relationship. The way they have managed their professional life as well as being together as a family. They have set such amazing benchmarks that both I and my sister (Anisha Padukone) would like to follow."
