One of the most loved couples in the industry, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone graced the controversial reality show, Koffee With Karan Season 8's first episode. During the course of the conversation, they dropped their wedding video and also talked about their early romance, Ranveer's big proposal for Deepika, her parents' reaction and many more, which are simply unmissable. For the unversed, the duo started seeing each other in 2012. Afterwards, Ranveer proposed to Deepika in 2015, at a stunning location amidst the sea. After 6 years of courtship, they tied the knot in 2018 at a destination wedding in Italy.
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh met for the first time during the reading of their film, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. Captivated by her personality, Ranveer tried to grab her attention during a lunch break. In the conversation on the reality show, Ranveer narrated the story that amidst the reading, they were served some crab meal, and when he noticed a piece of crab was stuck in Deepika's teeth, he thought of embarrassing her by pointing it out. However, Deepika surprised him again by simply asking him to clean it. Expressing how he got a 440-volt jolt that day, Ranveer said:
“She was sitting right next to me, and Mr. Bhansali obviously wanted to treat us, make a lunch out of this. So there were all these delicacies, and there was crab as well. So we were all eating crab.” (Pointing at Deepika’s smile) Like this, she was smiling and I noticed a piece of crab was stuck over here (in the corner of her gum). 'Really? Clean it.' This to me was like putting my hand in the socket. I felt a 440-volt jolt that day. And I feel the tremors of that jolt till date.”

Gradually, this is how the duo started falling for each other. Further, explaining how, after seeing one another for quite some time, Ranveer popped the million-dollar question to Deepika amidst the sea. In the same episode, Ranveer revealed that during their holiday in the Maldives, he had set up a romantic setting on a sandbank in the middle of the sea. Afterwards, he proposed to Deepika, and immediately the actress became emotional. She not only said yes but made Ranveer feel the 'king of the world'. Ranveer expressed:
"We were going to take a holiday and I decided that I would propose to her on the holiday. I got the ring and we go to the Maldives and I secretly carry the ring with me and we do the sandbank adventure. So, it was just her and me in the middle of the sea. I was like, ‘This is the perfect scenario'. They dropped us off and let and now it’s just her and me on the island. I popped the question, gave her the ring, she did not expect it, and she got emotional. And that was it, she said yes and I felt like the king of the world and then we were engaged."
Soon came the moment when Deepika narrated the incident to her parents, Prakash Padukone and Ujjala Padukone. In the same episode, Ranveer revealed how he was extremely nervous about Deepika's parents' reaction, despite making the best proposal to the actress. He mentioned putting his ears on the walls outside the room wherein Deepika was narrating the incident to her parents. Explaining how Ujjala was shocked upon Deepika's affirmation to Ranveer's proposal, he shared:
"And I was like 'don't. Don't even think of it'. Then, suddenly, absolutely out of nowhere, she was like 'you know he proposed marriage to me and I said yes.' I got into their room in their Banglore home and I put my ear to the door and outside Amma and Deepika are having it out. She's saying, 'who is this guy? He proposed marriage and you said yes also?' And I was like 'Please God help me'. It took a lot of work on my part to place for myself in Amma's heart and now I think I'm one of her favourite people in the whole world."

Fast forward to now, Ranveer has indeed become one of the most lovable husbands in Bollywood and his love for Deepika, is often seen in their social media posts and public appearances. Moreover, the doting son-in-law could also very easily make a beautiful place in his in-laws' hearts.
