Ranvir Shorey has been turning heads ever since he participated in the controversial reality show, Bigg Boss OTT 3. While he did not bag the trophy, he surely grabbed the attention because of his bold statements, certain revelations related to his life, and ugly fights with his co-contestants. After the show's conclusion, Ranvir appeared on Siddharth Kannan's YouTube talk show and spoke at length about the various facets of his life.
During the conversation, the 51-year-old addressed the allegations levied against him of being an 'abusive' person. He shared that they were planted by his ex-girlfriend, Pooja Bhatt's father, Mahesh Bhatt, after their ugly breakup. For the uninitiated, Ranvir and Pooja were good friends before they started dating in the early 2000s. The former couple even lived together. However, things took an ugly turn when the latter accused Ranvir of physically abusing her.

Ranvir revealed that Mahesh Bhatt had manipulated him. In the conversation, the actor recalled that Pooja's father had told his father that they would rest the matter after the fight. However, the next day, he uttered absolute lies about him and planted false stories. Ranvir was quoted as saying:
"At the time we had a conflict, I felt that the respect I had for him, he used that manipulatively. When the fight happened, he told my father, ‘Ok, we will rest the matter here, whatever the fight happened between the kids.’ Next day, he proceeded to print utter lies about me, planted false stories in the media against me, painting me as an alcoholic abusive person. All lies!"
Furthermore, when the host asked the Bigg Boss OTT 3 participant if the fight was just between him and Pooja, Ranvir disclosed that the latter's brother was the one who had assaulted him first. Sharing that this incident happened almost 25 years ago, Ranvir said:
"Her brother was the one, who assaulted me. He (Mahesh Bhatt) could have told these guys not to talk like that…. In that sense I felt he was manipulative towards me. These are all 25 years old stories, I don’t want to get into them now."

While Ranvir Shorey was inside the Bigg Boss house, he touched upon this topic. He recalled that the situation unfolded when he was just recovering from the loss of his mother. The actor shared that he encountered the 'biggest scandal' of his life, after which, his brother asked him to shift his base to the US for a while. During that time, he did a six-months acting course and even had to borrow money from his brother.

After returning from the US, Ranvir started working on The Great Indian Comedy Show in 2005. Meanwhile, two of his long-shelved films were greenlit for release and hit theatres back-to-back within a week, and his work was much appreciated by the audiences. After those films, Ranvir finally felt that his life was steady as an actor and that he had arrived.
Moreover, during a conversation on ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, Ranvir highlighted how Mahesh Bhatt was manipulating him, even labelling his actions as "duplicitous." Furthermore, he shared that he had great regard for the filmmaker until the fiasco with the latter's daughter took place. He was quoted as saying:
"'I had great regard for Mr Bhatt till the fiasco happened when I was seeing his daughter (Pooja Bhatt). Then I saw that actually whatever respect I had for him was being used to manipulate me… very duplicitous behaviour going on."
After his ugly breakup with Pooja Bhatt, Ranvir married Konkana Sen Sharma in 2010. The couple welcomed their son, Haroon, the next year. Unfortunately, they separated in 2015. Meanwhile, Pooja Bhatt tied the knot with Manish Makhija in 2013, but even their relationship couldn't stand the test of time. They called it quits just a year later.
