Our kitchen is a treasure trove of so many useful things which we are not even aware of. Things that are easily available and always there in our house, like lemons, olive oil, coconut oil, etc., are extremely useful for our daily health, beauty and skincare needs. While usually, we think of them as mere kitchen necessities, our skin and body need them too, not just in the form of food but also for external use.
There is one thing, which is an inevitable part of every kitchen, that we did not know had so many benefits. We are talking about nothing other than Epsom salt or sendha namak. Surprised? Well, we know it is something to be very intrigued about. Epsom salt is very useful for our health and beauty. Here are some benefits of Epsom salt, and how you can put it to the best use.
The most beneficial thing about Epsom salt is its ability to relieve sprains and minor injuries. All you have to do is add 2 cups of salt to a bucket of warm water and soak the affected area in it for some time. Then, your pain will slowly go away.
Epsom salt is a very widely trusted saline laxative. It cleans the digestive tract and thus helps the movement of waste inside our body. Mix one tablespoon of salt in warm water and drink it slowly to relieve constipation. But remember, only use this solution once a day as excess consumption can be bad. If your problem does not go away in a few days, consult a physician.
Epsom salt/ sendha namak has another benefit for the functioning of our body. It improves our body’s ability to produce and use insulin, thus lowering the risk of diabetes. Regular intake of Epsom salt will lead to a proper magnesium and sulphate level in the body, which will lead to a maintained insulin level.
An Epsom salt bath relieves the body of all kinds of pains and stress. So after a long day at work, or an intense workout session, relax your body by enjoying a salt bath. Just add 2-3 cups of Epsom salt to your warm bath water, and soak into the glory that will take all your stress away and leave you feeling fresh and active.
Epsom salt works wonders as an exfoliator. Just add a handful of salt to your bath oil or olive oil and scrub your wet body with it. It will leave your body smooth and soft.
Along with exfoliation, another benefit of Epsom salt is that it also cleans the skin really well. Add half a teaspoon of Epsom salt to your daily moisturising cream and scrub your face with it gently. You will be surprised by the result.
Do not worry about blackheads when you have Epsom salt with you. Just add 1 teaspoon of salt and 3 drops of iodine to half a cup of boiling water. Take a cotton ball to apply this mixture on the skin patch facing blackheads. The blackheads will be successfully removed as your pores will open up.
Your hair are the most precious asset for you, right? Thin hair is a problem many women face. Well, Epsom salt comes to the rescue here too. Just add equal parts of deep conditioner and Epsom salt together, warm them and apply them to your hair for 20 mins. Rinse it off and you will be happy with the results.
Epsom salt is a boon for all of us. It has so many benefits for our entire body that we can never count them on our fingers. It is just the tip of the iceberg. Now that you know what a wonderful product, good old sendha namak is, do not wait and avail its benefits now.
