Rishad Hossain Calls Virat Kohli His Favourite Wicket Ahead Of India And Australia ODI 2025 Match

After four difficult months of not seeing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli on the cricket field, the fans are about to witness the iconic and most loved Ro-Ko jodi on October 19, 2025, against Australia in the 1st ODI. While, Rohit and Virat have been grabbing all the spotlight, a young spinner of Bangladesh, Rishad Hossain has opened up about the match, in which he took Virat Kohli's wicket.

Recently, during an interview, the spinner was asked about his favourite wicket and he revealed that it was during the Champion trophy 2025, when he took the wicket of the ‘Goat’ of cricket, Virat Kohli. For the unversed, In a Group A match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Rishad trapped Kohli, who scored 22 off 38 balls. Rishad was quoted as saying:

"I think my favorite wicket in the Champions Trophy was Virat Kohli. It was a completely new experience for me. When I came home and checked my phone, I saw so many comments and messages—it was overwhelming but really heartwarming."

Rishad Hossain is all set to play in the Big Bash League

Apart from grabbing attention for calling Virat Kohli his favourite wicket, the spinner, Rishad Hossain has also been hogging the spotlight as he is all set to play in the Big Bash League, marking the return of a Bangladeshi cricketer to the league since Shakib Al Hasan represented the Melbourne Renegades in 2014–15. Last year, the Hurricanes had picked Hossain, but he was unable to participate after the Bangladesh Cricket Board denied him a No Objection Certificate. Sharing his excitement, Rishad said:

"I’m truly happy and excited for the Big Bash. It’s one of the biggest leagues in the world, which makes it very important for me. That’s why I decided to participate in the Big Bash. As a Bangladeshi, I always try to represent my country to the best of my ability, and I will give 100 per cent in Hobart."

In June 2024, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma broke a lot of hearts, when they announced retirement from both Test and T20I formats, after India's victory in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup against South Africa. After the heartbreaking retirement, Virat chose to live a private life in London with his wife and kids, while Rohit focused on the upcoming ODI match. Since the past few days, fans have been flooding social media platforms with videos of Rohit and Virat as they are set to play against Australia on October 19, 2025.

Rishad Hossain is one of the brightest young leg-spinners in international cricket. He made his T20I debut against Ireland in March 2023, followed by an ODI debut against New Zealand. He gained international attention during the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where he claimed 14 wickets. His impressive performance earned him a spot with Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.
