Raveena Tandon is undoubtedly one of the most popular and biggest stars from the ‘90s. Over the years, the actress has starred in some of the biggest Bollywood hits, like Dilwale, Mohra, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, Dulhe Raja, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and others. A while back, the 49-year-old actress also ventured into OTT with the crime thriller series, Aranyak and to date, she amazes her fans with her power-packed performances. 

Raveena Tandon reveals why she was asked to continue her studies through correspondence

Recently, while promoting her latest legal drama, Patna Shuklla, which was released on Disney+Hotstar on March 29, 2024, Raveena opened up about the importance of having a degree. For those who don’t know, the actress’ recent release revolves around education scams in India. In the film, she portrays the role of a lawyer, ‘Tanvi Shukla’, who tries to help a student, ‘Rinki Kumari’ played by Anushka Kaushik, as she falls prey to a fake roll number scam.

While highlighting the importance of a degree during a conversation with the ETimes, Raveena shared an unheard anecdote from her college days. The actress added that even after debuting into Bollywood with the 1991 film, Patthar Ke Phool opposite Salman Khan, she continued pursuing her degree. Raveena revealed that her college’s principal had asked her to continue her studies through correspondence as the authorities wouldn’t be able to ensure her security whenever she would be on the college campus. In her words:

“One day, our principal called me to the office and suggested that my parents consider pursuing a degree through correspondence, as they couldn’t ensure security when I came to take exams.”

Further talking about the same incident, Raveen revealed that her college mates would jump out of the windows just to get a glimpse of her. Moreover, her principal was worried that Raveena wouldn’t be able to manage her film career and studies simultaneously. The actress added:

“There were students who were jumping out of windows just to catch a glimpse of me. He was concerned about how I would manage my studies with so many film commitments.”

Raveena Tandon talks about her academics

In the same interaction, Raveena shared that she never sat for final exams until the 8th standard and was promoted to the next class due to a rule of exemption back in those days. The rule exempted students who scored around 70% on their unit tests from the final tests. The actress further added that after the 8th, she used to score average marks between 55-65 per cent.

Moreover, Raveena, who has four kids, two adopted and the other two with her husband, Anil Thadani, added that while she taught her children, she felt that she was studying all over again. The actress also shared that she used to teach her children via video calls when she used to be on sets. Sharing how her children are excellent at studies, Raveena shared:

“When I teach my children, I feel like I'm studying all over again. But touchwood, both my kids have inherited the best from me and Anil, and both are academically brilliant. They have excelled in their studies”
