Ray J And Kim Kardashian's 'Toxic' Relationship And Decade Long Feud, Rapper Claimed Both Cheated

Ray J, born as William Ray Norwood Jr., is a singer-rapper. But he became well-known after his infamous intimate tape with Kim Kardashian. The video also led to a domino effect, with the Kardashians becoming a household name and a multi-billionaire family. Ray J and Kim dated for a few years, starting in 2003. However, their on-and-off relationship wasn't the healthiest. As Ray J has been arrested for pulling a gun on his estranged wife, Princess Love, take a look at his past relationship with Kim Kardashian. 

Ray J and Kim Kardashian became each other's ticket to fame after their split 

Kim Kardashian was known among socialite circles and a handful of the public, but was nowhere near an A-lister when she started dating rapper, Ray J, in the early 2000s. Her then-boyfriend wasn't a huge name either. However, the former couple skyrocketed to infamy after their split. A tape of their intimate moments was leaked online nearly a year after they split in 2006. The tape, along with the legal battle that ensued when Kim sued and won her lawsuit against the company that released the video online, made her entire family uber-famous. It also led all of them to become global celebrities and establish the Kardashian brand. 

Ray J has accused Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner of consensually releasing the tape and using his name for fame 

Ray J's claim to fame has been mostly his decades-long feud with Kim and her family. The rapper has been making comments against his ex, accusing her of using him to become popular. Ray J has claimed that the tape wasn't leaked. Instead, he, Kim, and her mother, Kris Jenner, had decided to release it. In an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim had claimed that there was unreleased footage from the tape that her then-husband, Kanye West, had gotten back for her, along with the complete hard drive from Ray J. However, Ray J had responded to this in a statement to the Daily Mail and said:

“I’ve sat in the shadows for over 14 years allowing the Kardashians to use my name, to abuse my name, make billions of dollars over a decade and a half talking about a topic I’ve never really spoken about. I have never leaked a s*x tape in my life. It has never been a leak. I never had a single one at my house. She’s always had all the tapes in a Nike shoe box under her bed. That’s how it all came about. Once I pitched the idea to her, just playing around a little bit, that’s when she jumped on the idea, talked to her mom and it was out of my hands from there.”

Recently, in September 2025, in a livestream with Chrisean Rock, Ray J dropped a bomb when he claimed that he is helping the Feds to build up a case against Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner. He also stated that anyone who knows Kim should tell her that the 'Feds are coming' and also said that it's 'worse than Diddy'. Kim has mostly ignored all of Ray J's accusations against her. 

Ray J said that both he and Kim Kardashian were 'players and cheaters'

Ray J also became a reality TV star like his ex and appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2017. In a conversation with co-contestant, Stacy Francis, the rapper opened up about his past relationship with Kim. Ray J and the Skims founder met through his sister, Brandy. And Stacy was his sister's back then had seen the relationship between the former couple. When Stacy said to Ray J that Kim was really in love with him, the rapper refused and called her a 'player'. Then he added:

"You don't really know what happened though. Put it like this. We were both players. We were both cheaters."

Ray J arrested after allegedly pulling a gun on his ex-wife, Princess Love

Ray J has made headlines again, and it's not for anything Kardashian-related. The rapper allegedly pointed a gun at his estranged wife, Princess Love, in a Thanksgiving livestream. According to TMZ, he was arrested over this but released on the same afternoon.
