Parting ways with the person with whom you have spent years of your life is one of the toughest calls to make. The night of January 17, 2022, had come as a shocker for Dhanush and South sensation, Rajinikanth’s daughter, Aishwaryaa’s fans. The two had announced their separation, ending their 18 years of married life. Dhanush and Aishwaryaa had tied the knot in the year 2004 after their parents had arranged their wedding. They have two kids, Yatra Raja (15) and Linga Raja (10). Now, as Dhanush and Aishwaryaa have parted ways, their fans are speculating the reason for the same.
To announce their separation, Aishwarya R Dhanush and Dhanush had shared a long note on their respective social media handles. Expressing their feelings in their separation note and asking people to give them privacy to deal with this, the couple had penned:
"18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting and adapting... Today we stand at a place where our paths separate... Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do Respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this."

As soon as Dhanush and Aishwaryaa announced their separation, media galleries are working overtime to find out the reason behind the same. According to a report in India Today, Dhanush and Aishwaryaa’s wedding hit a rough patch because of their hectic work schedule. It is also mentioned that Dhanush is a workaholic and it took a toll on his family life. The portal quoted its source as:
"Dhanush is a workaholic. Anyone who knows him can tell that he puts his work before anything else. There have been many instances when his work commitments - travelling between cities and outdoor film shoots - have taken a toll on his family life."
Another report in The Times Of India stated that Dhanush and Aishwaryaa's friends mentioned that the two have parted ways owing to their individual life choices. While Dhanush has been busy signing news projects and working hard on the professional front, his ex-wife, Aishwaryaa found peace in yoga, exercise and spirituality. The portal mentioned that their individual life choices made it hard for them to spend time together.
With Aishwaryaa’s last post for her now ex-husband, Dhanush, nobody could guess the turmoil they were dealing with! On the 67th National Film Awards, Rajinikanth was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his immense contribution to the Indian film industry. On the other hand, Dhanush had bagged the Best Actor award for his stellar performance in Asuran. It was a proud moment for Aishwaryaa when her father and her husband were bestowed with prestigious awards. Taking to her IG handle on October 25, 2021, Aishwaryaa had shared two photos, one of her father and her husband and one with them. Along with the pictures, she had captioned her post as:
“They are mine … and this is history #prouddaughter #proudwife.”

After Aishwaryaa’s divorce announcement, on January 18, 2022, her sister, Soundarya Rajinikanth, had taken to her Twitter handle and had posted a priceless childhood picture of them. In the photo, we could see baby Soundarya and baby Aishwaryaa hugging their father, Rajinikanth. Sharing it, Soundarya had tweeted:
"New Profile Picture."
For the unversed, in 2011, Dhanush was reported to be dating Shruti Haasan, which had led to turmoil in his married life with Aishwaryaa!
