Recently, Reem Shaikh opened up about the same.

"Yes, my parents are divorced. I am confirming all the speculations, you all can stop talking about it and stop gossiping about why she unfollowed and all. It has been a good 4 years since my parents were separated. We are over it; everybody is over it, but people are not. They keep talking about it."

Moreover, the actress shared that her sister is an air hostess, and she is clearing these rumours to ensure that there are no more fabricated stories made on the internet. At the same time, she opened up about how her mother gets trolled for wearing her clothes which shouldn't be an issue given their similar height and sizes. "The way my mother has sacrificed for me all these years is one thing that I will always hold as a regret that I realised very late. But when I did, I was shattered into so many pieces. From that day, I decided to give everything in my capacity to give her a better life. Make sure that she is happy and treated the way she deserves to be."

Unlike people's perspective that she would have had it easy, she experienced violence at home, and the constant presence of loud noises and angry people at home created a void for safe space in her life. Sharing how all this impacted her while growing up, Reem said:
"For me to talk to someone has taken so much strength and the fight with myself. My parent's separation made me realise what has actually happened and what the situation was. That day, overnight, I became an adult. I would witness loud noises, angry faces and that aggressive energy. As a child, it was all about energy and I had adapted to a lot of it. I started having anger in me and that whole aggression."
