Rekha has been through a lot in life, but her love for living life has turned her into a strong lady. There was a time when Rekha was madly in love with Amitabh Bachchan, who was already married to Jaya Bachchan. Reportedly, things escalated to a level where Jaya Bachchan asked Amitabh never to work with Rekha. While the ex-lovers maintained a dignified silence, Rekha first time made a rare comment on Amitabh Bachchan.
Rekha appeared as a special guest on Kapil Sharma's show, The Great Indian Kapil Show. She talked about a lot of things in her life and made a lot of fun remarks. During one segment, a fan asked Rekha about her iconic song, 'O Sheronwali' from the superhit film, Suhaag, which also featured Amitabh Bachchan.
In the song, Rekha was playing dandiya in a temple. The fan asked her how she was able to pull the dandiya scene. Being a South Indian, it seemed like she was born a Guajrati as she nailed the dance moves. However, Rekha, instead of absorbing the praise, started heaping praising Amitabh Bachchan, but she made sure not to mention his name.Rekha stated that she had to give her best as the person in front of her was an amazing man. She added that when you have to dance opposite such a charming man, your body starts dancing in auto-mode. She was quoted as saying:
"Ye sochiye ke jinke saath main Dhandiya khel rahi thi, wo kya shaks hai. Acha nahi khelungi toh karungi? Dandiya aati ya na aati ho, saamna aise aadmi-shaqs aa jaata hai toh khud hi har angh angh theedakne lagta hai."
Rekha is not the kind of woman who believes in regret. She has lived her life openly admiring and expressing her love for Amitabh Bachchan. At the start of Kapil's show, Rekha used an unconventional English word to sound serious. Still, Kapil didn't understand anything, and he innocently confessed that he didn't know its meaning.
Rekha teased Kapil when he said that his English speaking skills had improved. Using Amitabh Bachchan's famous dialogue, Rekha said, "I know, I know, you can talk English, you can walk English."

During another segment of the show, Kapil urged Rekha to mimic the late legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. However, Rekha denied his request, and then Kapil revealed that she has a secret talent for mimicking people within just ten minutes. He went on to say:
"Ek baar hum Rekha ji ke sath baithe hue the, vo itne ache se bariki se pakdti hai. Apse 5 minute baat kar legi, apki awaz, apki expressions hubahu, vo alag baat hai yeh sharmati hai. Lekin apka talent mai ne dekha hai, vo mere dil mein yaad hai jo humesha rahegi."
Kapil then asked her to mimic Lata Mangeshkar. Rekha narrated an anecdote of her life to him and stated that one day, the legendary singer invited her to her birthday. She went there and told her how she was her biggest fan and said that she wished God blesses her with a daughter like her in her next birth. Rekha added that she started calling her mother from that day onwards. The veteran actress revealed that she came to her the same night and said:
"Vo usi waqt mere pass aye, kehti, 'Mumma.' Vo din hai or aaj ka din hai abhi bhi mere kaano mein unki awaj gunjti hai. Maa."
