The 1994-released film, Hum Aapke Hai Koun happens to be one of the most-loved family dramas ever. Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, the film boasted an ensemble star cast of talented actors such as Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Renuka Shahane, Mohnish Behl, Reema Lagoo, Alok Nath among others. Even today, glimpses and songs from the film pull a chord in the hearts of the fans, who can simply re-watch it at any given day. And now, Renuka Shahane reveals some anecdotes about working in the film, and spoke about her various experiences during the same.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Renuka Shahane opened up about her experience of shooting the film, Hum Aapke Hai Koun. She revealed that when she learnt that the shooting spot lacked washrooms, she stopped drinking water and avoided using them in the first place. However, she added that when Madhuri learnt of her plans after observing her for a few days, she quickly gave her a precious word of advice. Renuka mentioned:
“Madhuri told me that even if there is a washroom problem, don’t drink less water because she faced a skin problem. She advised me, don’t drink less water. Even if it is an outdoor shoot, we will take four women with us and manage, but don’t drink less water because there might be skin issues”.

In the same interview, Renuka revealed that since most of the shooting of the film were outdoors, it initially meant for her to stay dehydrated for much longer periods of time, and added that she would only drink water after she returned to the hotel. Calling Madhuri’s advice totally helpful, Renuka said:
“That time, harsh lights were used when we would shoot outdoors, and the reflectors and all were very harsh. Obviously one will bet dehydrated if they don’t drink enough water. That was incredible advice from her. Because first two days I did not drink water. I used to go to the hotel and then drink water. It was so bad. So she realised and she told me.”
In one of her previous interviews with Mid-Day, Renuka opened up about the time when she faced a lot of criticisms from people around her, when she decided to get married to Ashutosh Rana. She was advised to take care of herself, since her husband belonged to a large joint family in the first place. Moreover, she was even predicted by a few people that her marriage with Ashutosh would not last as long as even a month, particularly based on his villainous roles on the celluloid.

For the unversed, before marrying Ashutosh Rana, Renuka Shahane was married to renowned theatre artist, Vijay Kenkare. Unfortunately, their marriage did not last long and they parted ways. In one of her later interviews with Pinkvilla, Renuka had opened up on the impact her divorce has left on her second marriage, she sweetly responded that although they were two nice individuals, but they could not be a good husband-wife to each other.
