Karva Chauth puja is for married women who fast for the well-being of their husbands. They break their fast after looking at the full moon and their husbands' faces. And Karva Chauth has always been a gala event for married women as well as celeb wives. But, Bollywood's newlywed couple, Rhea Kapoor and Karan Boolani have refused to partake in it.
The younger daughter of Anil Kapoor, producer and stylist, Rhea Kapoor, had tied her marital knot with her long-term boyfriend, Karan Boolani, on August 14. Being newlywed, she was also expected to participate in the Karva Chauth puja, but she refused to do that and voiced her opinions about the tradition.

On October 17, 2021, Rhea Kapoor took to her IG stories to put up a long message, stating that she and her husband do not believe in such traditions. She even turned down all the collaborations ahead of its time and lashed out at some strangers who might call her 'silly' for this decision. Rhea's IG story message could be read as “Hi. Happy Sunday. Respectfully please don't reach out to me for karva chauth gifting or collabs. It's not something Karan or I believe in. We respect other couples who partake and can even enjoy the festivities while they do. It's just not for me. Or us. So the last thing I want to do is promote something I don't believe in and don't really agree with the spirit it comes from”.
Adding further to the note, she wrote, “For now I feel like if we take care of ourselves and each other we should be good. I only write this because it seems random strangers feel the need to aggressively convince me that I'm being ‘silly’, ‘have to do it’, 'it's my first'. No, thank you. let's move on? If you read this thank you for giving a sh*t. I hope you enjoy your Sunday.”

For the unversed, a few days ago on Dussehra, Rhea and her husband, Karan performed a house warming puja for their new abode and gave a glimpse of it to their fans. On the short clips, Rhea had captioned it as "New Home. New Memories. Happy Dussehra."
Rhea had a beautiful wedding at her own house, nothing grandeur much but enough to make your mind boggle. It was a very private ceremony, attended by close friends and family only. She had donned an ivory coloured lehenga with a knitted veil and had paired her look with a gorgeous diamond and pearl jewellery set. She had looked beautiful on her big day.
