Richa Chadha has been gathering a lot of praise and applause for her recent performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut web series, Heeramandi. The actress, who is renowned for her versatility and rustic beauty, pulled off the role of a courtesan most gracefully in the series. Moreover, it has been a very special time for Richa in her personal life as well, since the diva is expecting her first child with hubby, Ali Fazal.
In a recent interaction with News18 Showsha, Richa Chadha opened up on about how special the time was for her when she shot the series, Heeramandi. Not just because the diva worked under the most-desired filmmakers in Bollywood at the moment, but also due to the fact that her shooting schedule for the same was just set ten days before her wedding with Ali Fazal. Expressing how she never knew that she would be embracing motherhood in near future, Richa said:
“I began shooting for Heeramandi literally 10-15 days before my wedding. And at that time, there was no thought of motherhood in the immediate future on my mind.”

Moving forth in the conversation, the first-time mommy-to-be was asked if she had any plans in mind, about how she would want to raise her child. To this, the actress remarked that everything in this new journey of her life is too new for her, and she doesn’t really know herself how to proceed. However, Richa remarked that she would perhaps figure everything out, once her child comes into the world. In her words:
“I don’t know what kind of upbringing I would want to give my child. It’s like I’m planning to write a novel and somebody already asking me what kind of a story I would want to write. You can’t say these things. This is all very new for me. It’s rightly said that it’s the child that gives birth to the mother. So, I guess we’ll figure it all out once our child comes into this world. And I know that it will happen very naturally.”
In the concluding segment of the interaction, Richa Chadha expressed whether she was apprehensive about this new phase of her life, and the dauting task of parenting and raising a child. She stated finding all of it a natural process and doesn’t consider it a big deal. Moreover, she spoke of her own mother and revealed that she has witnessed the former doing so much of hardship in raising her children and managing work. Adding how she would definitely take some cues from her mother, Richa concluded:
“It’s not a big deal. We’re all mammals. Look at nature! An elephant or a giraffe gives birth standing and then goes back and licks the calf and gets back into the wild, teaching their children how to go about in the wild and how to hunt. I’m not saying that I’m going to teach my child hunting. But bringing up a child is a very natural process. I’ve watched my mother raise two kids while being a working professional. She delivered my brother and went back to her job of teaching at a college in a month’s time. I always saw her working outside and at home and there was no sense of cheerful indifference in that. She actually enjoyed her life teaching us to live by principle and be empowered and I’m going to take my cue from that.”

Back on February 9, 2024, Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal announced the happiest news of their life, and announced that they were expecting their first child. Instead of the common baby bump pictures, the duo dropped a glimpse of a chit of paper, on which “1+1=3” was written. Moreover, Richa and Ali also shared a candid snapshot of themselves looking madly in love, which wittily featured the emoji of a pregnant lady on one corner.
