Ricky Martin appeared on trending charts out of nowhere on September 7, 2025, after he was honoured with the inaugural Latin Icon Award at the 2025 MTV VMAs at the USB Arena in Elmont. The legendary singer dedicated the golden moon person statue to his four kids, as he said, "Everything I do, I do with you in my mind and my heart." Before accepting the award, the 53-year-old singer set the stage on fire with his energetic performance, including his timeless hits, La Copa de La Vida, Maria, and Vente Pa' Ca.
The reason why seeing Ricky Martin winning the Latin Icon Award was a huge moment for pop culture fanatics is that it was presented to him by the ever-so-gorgeous Jessica Simpson. For the uninitiated, back in 1999, Jessica opened select dates of Ricky Martin's legendary "Livin' la Vida Loca" tour, which gave her budding career a huge boost. So, watching Jessica return to the VMAs stage after all these years, this time to honour Ricky for his pop legacy, felt like nothing short of the epitome of a true 'full-circle moment.'
Ricky Martin is one of the most famous pop icons in the world, but even then, many fans remain unaware of his personal life, which is full of ups and downs. Before we dive deep into his dating history, confession about being a homosexual man, and the controversial case with his nephew, let's talk about his current situation. For the uninitiated, Ricky Martin is currently single and hasn't been dating anyone since his divorce from his ex-partner, Jwan Yosef, in 2023. There were rumours that he is reportedly dating Nacho Palau, but he publicly rubbished the buzz.
In an interview with Out Magazine, Ricky Martin opened up about his post-divorce dating life, stating that he isn't currently interested in a serious relationship. When asked if he was dating someone, he said, "Not dating... a booty call? Yeah." Currently, the singer is enjoying his singlehood and having fun meeting guys at parties. On the work front, Ricky is busy touring and will be seen in Palm Royale Season 2. Now, without further ado, let's talk about Ricky Martin's dating life.
Ricky Martin has been linked with a series of women and men in his life. However, most of the link-ups couldn't pass the test of time. The Latin singer was linked with three beauties, famous Mexican model, Adriana Biega, Italian socialite, Ines Misan, and Italian dancer, Valerio Pino, from the mid-1990s to the 2000s. All three were rumours that made a lot of noise in the gossip columns but didn't develop into anything serious. However, in 1994, Ricky met Mexican model and TV host, Rebecca de Alba and fell in love with each other.

The ex-couple were so serious that reports of them planning their marriage were all over the tabloids. Unfortunately, Ricky and Rebecca mutually decided to end their long-term relationship in 2005. In the following years, Ricky welcomed twins, Matteo and Valentino, into his life through a surrogate, as he had always wanted to be a father.
After parting ways with Rebecca de Alba, Ricky Martin moved forward in life, and it was in 2010 when he made the biggest decision of his life. The iconic singer publicly announced that he is a 'proud' homosexual man. Ricky shared a statement on his official website and wrote a long note in which he admitted that he's blessed and fortunate to be a gay person. An excerpt from his statement could be read as:
"I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am. Too heavy for me to keep inside. Something worth celebrating. Many people told me... 'all the years you've worked and everything you've built will collapse'. It fills me with strength and courage."
After opening up about his sexuality in public and confirming longtime rumours of him being gay, Ricky Martin crossed paths with Jwan Yosef in 2018. The former couple connected on social media in 2015 and made their relationship public in 2016. Ricky and Yosef were deeply in love, getting engaged in 2016 and married in 2018.
In the same year, Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef welcomed a daughter, Lucia Martin-Yosef, and a son, Renn Martin-Yosef into their lives. Unfortunately, after being together for six years, Ricky and Yosef finalised their divorce in July 2023. Even after their heartbreaking divorce, they're still co-parenting their two kids.
In July 2022, Ricky Martin's nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez Martin, shocked the world when he filed a complaint against his uncle, citing groundbreaking allegations against him. The nephew accused Ricky of alleged sexual exploitation, domestic violence, and a seven-month incestuous relationship. However, when the matter reached the court, Ricky denied all the accusations and even filed a USD 20 million lawsuit against his nephew for maligning his image with false allegations.
Due to the lack of proven evidence, Dennis Yadiel withdrew his suit, and Ricky Martin also cancelled the USD 20 million lawsuit he filed against his nephew. Both parties settled the matter, and the court dismissed the case for prejudice. It was a terrifying moment for Ricky's loyal fan base around the world to see his name associated with such an evil act. However, seeing him emerge from that controversy 'all clear' strengthened his relationship with fans even more. We hope he continues to reign supreme in the global music industry for decades to come.
