Riteish Deshmukh And Genelia Deshmukh Gave Up On These Things After Their 'Organ Donation Pledge'

It was in the year 2003, when Bollywood's cutest couple, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh had met each other for the first time during the shooting of their film, Tujhe Meri Kasam. After which, Riteish and Genelia had started dating and it had continued for the next 9-long-years and finally, on February 3, 2012, the couple had decided to get married. As for now, they’re a happy family with their two kids, Riaan Deshmukh and Rahyl Deshmukh. Whether we talk about Riteish and Genelia's likes, dislikes, philosophies, values, and aspirations, they share a lot of similarities and make sure to empower each other. From their mushy captions to their adorable pictures, they simple leave no chance to make us fall in love with them again and again.

In an interview with the IANS, Bollywood actor, Riteish Deshmukh talked about his and wife, Genelia Deshmukh's pledge of donating their organs earlier this year. The actor has talked about the same and revealed the changes have been undergoing since then and also the things they've stopped eating. He said, "I have given up non-vegetarian food, black coffee and aerated drinks. I want to keep my body healthy. And eventually, when the time comes for donating my organs, people should say, 'Jaate jaate healthy organs chhod kar gaya' (they left with healthy organs)."

Riteish Deshmukh also revealed that he and his wife, Genelia had dreamt of the organ donation pledge years ago. But never got the required time to discuss and research about this process as they were completely unaware of it's process. However, during the lockdown, they came to know more about it and gave the credit to transplant surgeon, Dr Sunil Shroff, who is famous for his work in the field of deceased organ transplantation in India. He said, "We (Genelia and Riteish) have been thinking about this (organ donation) for a few years now. During this lockdown, we got a lot of time to think about what we should do. Unfortunately, we didn't have a lot of information on organ donation like where to go and how to go about the process." On July 1, 2020, i.e., National Doctor's Day in India, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh had won hearts all over the internet, when they had announced that they will donate their organs. Genelia had posted a video with her hubby, Riteish making the announcement on her IG handle. She had also written a note alongside it which could be read as "@riteishd and me have been thinking about it for a long time but unfortunately didn’t get down to doing it. Today on Doctor’s Day we pledge to donate our organs. We want to thank Dr Nozer Sherier and FOGSI for inspiring us. The greatest gift you can give someone is ‘The gift of life’. We urge you all to take a part in this initiate and pledge to save lives, pledge to donate your organs."
