Child actress, Riva Arora made her acting debut in the critically-acclaimed movie, Rockstar (2011), when she was just one and a half years old. Later, she went on to work in numerous television commercials and won hearts with her cuteness. Riva then bagged a role in films like Uri: The Surgical Strike and Mom, and impressed the audience with her performance in the hit films. Currently, Riva is basking in the success of her recently-released film, Chhatriwali, which has Rakul Preet Singh playing the lead.
In an interview with the Indian Express, Riva Arora opened up about the negativity that she receives on social media and revealed how she has been dealing with the trenchant criticism of late. For the unversed, netizens were upset with a music video where Riva was seen romancing Karan Kundrra while it was claimed that she was only 12 years old. Talking about her real age, she said that she's not 12 and her age will be revealed soon.
In her words:
“Well, I never focus on such criticism, I always believe that if there’s negativity, there’s also a positive side. I choose to look at the brighter side. The love that I get today has overpowered everything. My actual age will be revealed soon. But all I can say is that I am not 12.”
Riva Arora also addressed the controversy about her age and revealed how she and her family have a laugh over the same. However, she added that sometimes the bogus reports hurt her way too much but her family comes out in support of her to cheer her up. Talking about the same, she said:
“They teased me that tu baarah saal ki hai kya? It’s a little funny to see and read these things. And yes, when things do become too heavy, they cheer me up and make me realise that it’s bogus reports, so I shouldn’t worry about it.”
When Riva was asked if her parents were comfortable with her working in the film, Chhatriwali, which talks about safe sex, the actress shared that it was her and her mother's mutual decision that she must do the film. Talking about her bond with her mother, Riva said that they are like best friends and discuss everything under the sun. She added:
“Today, the world is moving at a fast pace and also turning progressive. I don’t think it’s any more taboo to talk about these things with your parents. I am very close to my mother and discuss everything under the sun with her. We are like best friends and talk about everything. She also has given me a diktat that I need to talk about boyfriend issues with her.”

Even with so much popularity, Riva Arora always manages to keep herself balanced and rooted to the ground. In the same interview, she opened up about her personal life and stated that she leads a normal life as a teenager and isn't missing anything in her growing up years. Riva also added that people have now started treating her as an actor and not a child on the sets. She concluded:
“I have started doing all kinds of roles and everything has changed completely. I want to be seen as an actor, who is versatile and not boxed as a child or young actor.”
