Rob Reiner's Daughter, Romy Was Scared Of Nick Reiner, Didn't Want Him Near Her, 'She Was A Child..'

Nick Reiner has been charged with first-degree murder of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner. The news alone left the world shocked, and new reports about Nick's mental health have been surfacing online. Amid that, another report has surfaced alleging that the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, was strongly opposed to having Nick around her and their family.

In a recent conversation with The Daily Mail, an insider has revealed that Rob and Michele's daughter, Romy Reiner, was immensely scared of her brother, Nick Reiner, long before he committed the gruesome murder of their parents. According to the insider, she "lived in fear" of Nick. The interview published December 21, 2025 (ET), revealed that even before his drug addiction, Nick's outbursts terrified her, so she would often try and stay out of his way. The insider was quoted as saying:

"It feels like Romy has been scared of Nick since she was a child. Even before his drug addiction, his outbursts were frightening because they seemed to come out of nowhere. She tried to stay out of his way as much as she could but it wasn’t easy."

Romy Reiner didn't want Nick Reiner to live in their parents' guesthouse

In the same report, the insider revealed that Romy Reiner "didn't think it was a good idea" for her older brother, Nick Reiner, to be living in their parents' guesthouse prior to their killings last weekend. The insider who allegedly lived next to Rob and Michele Reiner revealed that Romy didn't even want Nick to be living across the street from her. She was quoted as saying:

"She didn’t even like the idea of him living across the street from her. But she knew they moved him in so they could keep a close eye on him and give him a roof over his head."

What happened on December 15, 2025?

According to reports, on December 15, 2025, Romy Reiner found her father, Rob Reiner's dead body inside their LA home. Her roommate called 911, while Romy called her father's best friend, actor, Billy Crystal, who rushed to the scene with his wife and reportedly saw their friends' bodies. Romy returned to the scene, at which point paramedics revealed that her mother had also been murdered, an anonymous source close to the family confirmed to the New York Times. 

Rob and Michele Reiner were reported to have been dead for several hours, at which point rigor mortis had already taken place. It was reported that Romy Reiner had suggested that Nick Reiner was likely a suspect in their parents' deaths. Nick was soon after arrested and was officially charged with two counts of first-degree murder on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, with Los Angeles prosecutors requesting the charges be considered under "special circumstances," which can add time to a sentence if convicted, because there were multiple murders.

What will happen to Nick Reiner if he is convicted?

Nick Reiner's attorney is expected to plead not guilty by reason of insanity. However, if Nick is convicted, it could result in life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty. However, prosecutors haven't yet confirmed publicly whether they'll seek the latter option.
