Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner were killed by their son, Nick Reiner. Reports claimed that Nick, who has a history of suffering from drug addiction, slit his parents' throats and stabbed them to death. He has been charged with murdering his parents. For the unversed, time and again, Nick and his parents opened up about his struggle with drug addiction, which he reportedly began at the age of 15.

Nick Reiner has been in Rehab 17-18 times, and by the age of 19, he finally left the same, trying to do better in life after he was free from drug addiction. Now that he has killed his parents, a recent interview of Rob Reiner surfaced on social media, wherein he revealed that his son was addicted to drugs. To mention, recent reports claimed that Nick started re-using drugs, and as his parents wanted him to begin the treatment, he refused, which led them to be involved in a heated argument at a Christmas party, following which, he took the brutal and shocking step of killing both his parents.

It was only three months ago that, in an interview with NPR's Fresh Air, Rob Reiner talked about his son, Nick Reiner's drug addiction. He revealed that his son has been doing great, and in the last six years, he has been out of addiction. Sharing that he was in a good place, Nick Reiner's proud father, Rob, said:

"He's been great … hasn't been doing drugs for over six years. He's in a really good place."

It was during an interview with PEOPLE, nearly a decade ago, when Rob revealed that the film, Being Charlie's plot, was loosely based on Nick's life. Sharing about the same, Rob revealed that he was not at all angry when he found out that, being just 15, Nick used drugs. Rob said that all he wanted to do was to help his son. He further revealed how he and Michele decided to drop Nick off at the rehab facilities.

Nick, on the other hand, was waiting to come out and see life from a different perspective. While making the film Being Charlie, Rob and Nick tried to repair their father-son relationship, and the movie helped Rob become a better father and understand his son. On the other hand, Nick could connect with his father on a different level, and the bond became stronger than it had been.

Sources revealed to TMZ that Nick seemed to be back on his drug usage, and this was why his parents reportedly were asking him to opt for treatment, which he refused, leading to a fight between them at a Christmas party. Rob reportedly told everyone that he was scared of Nick's mental health issues. It was hours later, when reports started surfacing that Rob and Michele were found dead at their LA home. Hours later, it was revealed that it was Nick who killed his parents.
